accommodation in europe, it's not just about luxury stay

cheap price = cheap location = jit dong jeng !

especially no private parking or garage

if park at street level overnight = kena break glass 90% probability higher than in JB

I'm looking to visit Germany and the surrounding countries - Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Belgium cos I plan to take a round trip around Germany... will probably have to plan until crazy for this trip again like for my Japan trip... ha ha... will be driving...

Car rental now like super duper expensive lor... Sixt especially lor...

Accommodation also a bit crazy... I checked using the AirBnB app and don't have any under $100... same for Booking.com... I just need a room with a king bed... or a one room apartment with 2 beds... I think the cost of accommodation will be the most expensive item for a 30+ day holiday... faint...

If you are planning for 30days road trip, can consider car leasing. Much more economical.

Actually Japan and Australia. Just use booking.com and search for apartments? Airbnb at least get a super host.

You are right. Many of the airbnb operators have moved to Booking.com. I suspect it could be due to list cost in Airbnb. Some airbnb has exorbitant cleaning cost and is a linear cost according to the duration of stay (though it is not clean daily). 🙂

That's nuts... they will kill the goose that lays the golden eggs... so silly... deposit for cleaning which is refundable I can understand seeing how some guests just mess up the place...

I've been doing it since 2014 or so... it's just convenient and very fuss free when you arrive... the interface is easy and helps you manage the stays easily... I usually print out every single stay voucher in hard copy in a file which I carry along... it is a great visual aid when planning and when travelling...

That's why I never bother to go US... it's too dangerous for safety first Singaporean like me...

My Bremen trip was in 2012 I think... my last trip was in 2018 in UK, France & Switzerland... I park my car in some ulu parking lot underground in Blois and on the roadside in Lyon Perrache but it was ok also... some more park for a few days in Lyon cos I just walked... it was a rest stop for us actually... so didn't see much in Lyon...

in Japan, I think hotels are still more economical... those that I stayed in in Hokkaido in 2015 were pretty big and spacious but not too expensive... but today's prices may be quite different lar...

If going to Japan for 1 month just a buy $1,000

and sell the car at the end of the holiday.

Might get more than $1,000 for the car.

There are about 4 brands in Europe that offer car leasing: Opel, Peugeot and Renault. Need to check their min leasing period. Some as short as 3weeks. In addition, some allows returning the car at different locations across Europe. The above was shared by an ex-colleague who went for a 4 months self driving tour in Europe. He paid a fraction in contrast to car rental.

I didn't stay in Toyoko Inn in Hokkaido... I was referring to another trip I made to Hokkaido in 2015, not the one I went on last year in 2023...
