Leverkusen die die did not want Wirtz to go to BM and talked to Man City because they knew Wirtz father agreed to sign for BM.

City wanted to sign him to replace KDB and told KDB he was not wanted next season anymore.

So now BM and City too confident that Wirtz will sign for them.

Wirtz talked to City and was not impressed with Pep's vision for him.

But Arne Slot talked to Wirtz and his vision was so clear and Wirtz was so impressed he chose Liverpool.

Now Wirtz family is house hunting in Liverpool.

Leverkusen is so happy to get the biggest transfer fee in Germany and selling to us and not BM!

Read Liverpool head coach Arne Slot's column in the matchday programme ahead of the Premier League champions' season finale versus Crystal Palace at Anfield.

I have only been at Liverpool for one year but I know how much the supporters of this club have waited for this day.

Lifting the Premier League trophy in front of fans is something that so many people have longed for and this means it is a privilege for all of us who are fortunate enough to be involved, no matter which role we are in.

For me as head coach, my overriding feeling is pride but not for myself – for the players, the staff, the supporters, the club and the city.

The hard work and effort, the commitment and the devotion that has been put in not just this season but also in the years before is why we are in the position to make today every bit as special as we all could wish for.

This means it is a day for unity and celebration. Nothing can be allowed to get in the way. Whatever might divide us can wait for another day. Whatever could distract us can be put to one side.

This is one of the biggest days in the modern history of Liverpool Football Club, so it makes sense that we all contribute to making it as positive as it can be and enjoy it as much as possible. Again, nothing else matters.

The reason I am saying this is I am as aware as anyone of the situation around Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and I know because these feelings have been made clear that there are some of you who would prefer for him not to be involved today.

The first thing I have to make clear is that whatever your view, we all want what is best for this club and it is always so, so important that we all remember this.

For some of our supporters, I know they believe it is not right that a player who has told us he will be leaving us and who will leave us when his contract expires should be given further opportunities to play for us.

As I have said from the outset, it is not my place to question how people feel, particularly when they give as much to Liverpool FC as our supporters do. What I maybe should do more though is explain why as a head coach I see things differently.

Firstly, as his manager I am as disappointed as anyone that Trent is leaving. But also as his manager I have a responsibility to take care of all of my players even at moments when I am disappointed. This is an essential part of my role at all times.

On top of this, I can only ever appreciate every player who has contributed to what we have achieved this season.

The future can and will look after itself and we will move on as a club, just as Liverpool always has. But in the here and now, every single player who has worn a red shirt this season by being part of this team and helped us become champions can only have my appreciation.

This is why I strongly believe that every player who falls into this category deserves today to be as special as it possibly can be.

I have the exact same feelings about our supporters. You deserve this day as much as anyone. Just as against Tottenham on the day we won the league, I want everything to be as close to perfect as possible. This is why I believe differences are for another day.

Of course, before the celebrations can begin we have another big responsibility, which is to do everything we can – again, together – to produce the kind of performance that a day like this deserves.

This, I can say without hesitation, will not be easy. Crystal Palace are a team which has so much quality but it also has an outstanding team ethic and we recognised both in our fixture against them at Selhurst Park earlier this season.

The fact that they went on to win the FA Cup last weekend is therefore no surprise whatsoever but this does not make it any less of a magnificent achievement.

Everyone knows of my admiration for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City's status as one of Europe's strongest teams is not in question, so Palace's victory on the day was truly outstanding.

For this reason, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Oliver Glasner, the Palace players, staff and supporters for winning the FA Cup.

We have had a lot of credit ourselves in recent weeks, so it is good to be able to give credit to another team which has achieved success.

As we know well, this is one of the toughest countries, if not the toughest country, to be successful in, so hopefully Palace can enjoy the last day of the season also, but not too much!

For us, as I said at the start, it is about enjoying the moment. After that we get to take a break while continuing to work towards the future.

One of the many great things about having success is that it makes you want it more and more and this is our challenge now.

Winning the Premier League is incredible in itself but we can not and will not stop here.
