Locknload 5th Gear August 15 Share August 15 ManU New Season With the latest inclusion (and hopefully performance similar to Haaland) of the 74mil ; 6'5" 22yo Benjamin Sesko (Leipzig) as striker, Hojlund (AC Milan / Fulham) has been told to look for another club by Amorim as gametime will be a rarity for him. The new signings of Matheus Cunha (Wolves), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) and Diego Leon (Cerro Porteno) brings the amount of over 214mil, with possibility of Carlos Baleba (Brighton), goalie Luigi Donnarumma and Mateus Fernandes on the cards if transfers of Antony (Real Betis), Ganarcho (Chelsea / Villa), Sancho (Juventus), Malacia (PSV Eindhoven), Toby Collyer (West Bromwich) etc are realised for funds, with Rashford already on loan to Barca absorbing his hefty wages. Possible line-up for tomorrow's EPL opening match with Arsenal (11.30pm) would include the 3 new signings in front, Dalot / Leon, Amad / Mainoo, Bruno and Ugarte / Mount in midfield with Heaven, De Ligt and Yoro in defence and Onana in goal. With his pre-season training completed, Amorim is expected to acheive at least a top six placing for European football. Lala81 Hypersonic August 16 Share August 16 Interesting whether amorim can really transform the team. they made 3 seemingly good/not bad signings. rashford gone liao. Then left ganarcho/sancho on way out. The rest not so confirmed. though antony will surely leave but for a massive loss.
Lala81 Hypersonic August 16 Share August 16 (edited) man u is a very dilemma type of team. Having a complete rebuild with unknown but high potential players is probably the way to go. But the fan base has little patience and the excessive media attention is toxic. manager need to show results but also have to rebuild the team. now buy all kinds of forward players but their spine of the team is still fundamentally not good enough from center mid to the central defenders to GK. Even if Baleba can't transfer-in due to cost constraints (Adam Wharton - Crystal Palace is now another possibility), Amorim could use the aging Casemiro for one half and sub Lisandro Martinez or from the others on the bench in mid, same for Onana as one has to make the best of what one has with tactics against different teams. Let's see what Amorim does and interesting to watch and compare Sesko vs Gyokeres tomorrow.
Locknload 5th Gear August 17 Author Share August 17 ManU 0 - Arsenal 1 ( EPL - Home) With Onanna still injured from a hanstring injury, it was Altay at goal with Yoro, De Ligt and Shaw in defence. The mid consisted of Dalot and Dorgu as wingbacks and complemented by Bruno and Casemiro while Cunha, Mbeumo and the pre-season on-form Mount completed the front trio. A corner was again our nemesis, as Altay's feeble contact only cleared the ball onto the path for a simple head-in to give Arsenal the lead in the 13th minute. Apart from Dorgu's long range effort that bounced off the left post, Cunha was the most impressive, followed by Mbeumo pressing well, with Mount not that effective among the three forwards. All eyes will be on the introduction of Sesko in the second half to change the outcome and break Arsenal's narrow lead. An early change in the 54th minute when Dalot was replaced by Amad for his better penetrative runs followed by a double change when Casemiro and Mount made way for Ugarte and main point-man Sesko in the 65th minute. The ineffective Shaw, devoid of his forward runs and passes, was replaced by Maguire in the 80th minute, with Arsenal maintaining their hold with good defence and goalkeeping. Although a loss and still early days, the team played good football especially in the first half.

Fitmugen 5th Gear August 18 Share August 18 Man U will struggle this season. Defence is super weak when average players like De Ligt and Shaw are starters. Midfield will be overrun by most teams when they play away. Attack is good but can Cunha and Mbuemo track back? Even midtable teams like Palace have a good spine and highly athletic players. Amorim will be gone by Christmas 1

L23 6th Gear August 19 Share August 19 Still dont understand why pour in hundreds of millions in attack and 0 in the defense so far... Change both GK and the entire defense la. RA is not even at Moyes level
Genes 6th Gear August 20 Share August 20 I must be watching a different game. Millions in attack because nobody is scoring. No so much in defence because its already quite good, especially versus our attack. Interesting to make grand assumptions when the non #1 goalie makes 1 mistake, even if the mistake directly led to a goal against. "The good times are coming" You still wanna talk abt the No.1 GK? haha.. Lucky he didnt play this match... or else the goal difference might be more 2 after Match 1. He has his fair share of 'own goals' since he joined Manu.. And we dont count our performance by the number of clean sheet just like what ETH did... He played most of the PL matches last season and which position Manu in by the end of last season? From Wiki (André Onana - Wikipedia)... A month later, Onana was heavily criticised for his performance in a 3–3 Champions League draw against Galatasaray; he was directly blamed for Galatasaray's first two goals, which came from former Ajax teammate Hakim Ziyech free kicks. The BBC called it "a night of suffering for Onana", who "produced a horror show to undermine much of United's good work", while the Manchester Evening News declared he "carelessly conceded" the first Galatasaray goal, "catastrophically fumbled" the second and "too easily beaten" for the third.[37][38][39] He was defended by manager Erik ten Hag, who opined that Onana's stats showed him to be the second-best goalkeeper in the Premier League.[40] In April 2025, ahead of a game between Lyon and Manchester United, former Manchester United and current Lyon player Nemanja Matic described Onana as "one of the worst goalkeepers in the club's history".[44][45] Onana was at fault for both of Lyon's goals in a 2–2 draw,[46] but was defended by manager Ruben Amorim.[47] However, Amorim then dropped Onana for the club's next match.[48] From BBC (Man Utd news: Andre Onana has second lowest save percentage - BBC Sport) Former Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic labelled Andre Onana as "one of the worst goalkeepers in the club's history". Was that a bit harsh or actually justified? How does he compare to the rest? Let's have a look at what the stats say. The Cameroonian joined United in July 2023, succeeding David de Gea, who departed after 12 years at the club. Since making the the £47.2m move from Inter Milan, Onana has gone on to win the FA Cup and has kept 23 clean sheets in 93 appearances. The table above compares the current number one to Manchester United's other goalkeepers since the 2003-04 season. Only those who've played 900 or more Premier League minutes are included. Onana ranks at the top of the list for saves per 90 minutes with an average of 3.4. So on average he makes more saves than other Manchester United keeper in the last 20 years but that stat does come with an asterisk because the data doesn't tell us how many shots he has actually faced compared to the others. Anders Lindegaard, who has the lowest saves per 90 average (2.3), also has the lowest save percentage with 67.2. He made 19 Premier League appearances for United between 2011 and 2014. Onana has the second lowest save percentage (70.1), out of the nine former Manchester United goalkeepers on our list. I don't think Onana is the answer to our prayers too. But he did not play this game, any sort of conjecture would count for nothing as no one will ever know if he would've had a flyer or a disaster. It is just 1 game. 2 weeks more in the transfer window, with 200m already spent. Evidently there is more in the piggy bank, but I defer to the club to decide on the best next course of action. They have made mostly solid steps so far so for me, i would back them to do even more solid work, even if there may be some derided missteps along the way. Anything would be an improvement on the Glazers' way. ↡ Advertisement
