Presea 3rd Gear September 10, 2003 Share September 10, 2003 Hi All, I heard a slight rattling sound from my engine, so I checked it out. I found that my right most sparkplug wire was slightly higher than the rest, and as such, it was loose and vibrating in it's hole. I tried pushing it down, but it would not return to it's normal position. What could be wrong? Ace_t Neutral Newbie September 10, 2003 Share September 10, 2003 (edited) the chap who's changing yr sparks didn't pull the cable out the correct way. check also if yr sparks are 'screwed' all the way in. hv u tried pushing the cable thru the cable boot/cap ? Presea 3rd Gear September 10, 2003 Author Share September 10, 2003 the cable was installed correctly the last time the spark plugs were changed (about 2 months back). unfortunately, I don't have the right tools to check the sparkplugs... or to tighten them. I was wondering,...if the sparkplugs were not installed correctly, wouldn't my engine be misbehaving? Or would it still rev smoothly to 7000rpm without any symptoms? I assume the staff at Autobacs are quite competent. I think I better bring my car to a mechanic soon... just in case it's something more serious. Trash street n New bridge road quite close rite ? it could be your cable catch is loose ? but is the sound so loud that u can hear it rattling ? furthermore, plastic cables dun produce a loud sound. btw.. u can hit the redline ? I just visited my mechanic who showed me that the spark plugs were not installed correctly. He was able to twist in several full turns. The really odd thing is that I have been driving since mid July since the spark plug installation, and there was absolutely no loss of power. Even when drove up to Malacca in early August, I did 190 for almost 1 hour... and everyday, taking off from standstill, wheelspin is still possible (ST115 205 width) Now I have more faith in my engine's reliability, despite being 12 years old.... and with an improperly installed spark plug. I will also go and buy a spark plug tool so that I can check after the new plugs are installed. This is actually the 3rd time I've done my servicing at Autobacs.... No more faith, liao.... Unfortunately, I don't have the right tools And yes, I could always hit redline @ 7000rpm... And yes, the plastic was rattling in the hole of the engine cover (where it was inserted). It was very audible when the car was stationary and the radio and aircon were switched off. Vtim 3rd Gear September 10, 2003 Share September 10, 2003 so, it's not properly screwed in but the plug cable is still connected onto the plug itself, right the spark plug tools only costs about $8.50 at hardware shop in Sungei Rd there are 2 sizes, Hex 16mm & 21mm, make sure you get the correct one Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
