GR-80

"My impression was that the GR-80 pipped the competitor in all aspects. The japanese was especially good where ride comfort was concerned"

Wheels Asia Nov 03

"... the GR-80 proved to be the better tyre in almost every aspect. Compared to the French tyre, the GR-80 is quieter in general, more progressive in the event of traction loss and provides more gripping power in both wet and dry conditions"

Highway Oct/Nov 03

"The GR-80s wet performance comes as a real surprise, since we didn;t expect that such a comfort-based ture would grip so well on the artificially sprinkled course"

Torque Oct 03

"Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the GR-80 is how well it performs even with noticeable wear and tear present"

Autocar Asean Nov 03

"At the end of the day, the media came out impressed with the new Bridgestone Turanza GR-80, especially in the wet where it convincingly trounced the competitor"

Motoring Oct 03

"With the GR-80, you'd have the confidence to push faster and harder when the heavens open"

Torque Oct 03

"On the rough surfaces too, the GR-80 soaks up the irregularities and undulations more effectively than the competitor"

Highway Oct/Nov 03

".. the worn-out GR-80 did not suffer from any serious lack of wet performance even though there were only half of the thread left"

Wheels Asia Nov 03

"...we can say it might just be the tyre to have, in order to transform a Corolla into a Lexus (well almost , anyway) in terms of ride comfort and silence"

Torque Oct 03

"It is no doubt an excellent, comfortable and silent ture with good driving performance characteristics"

Wheels Asia Nov 03

assumptions i make

1) by posting in a car forum, u should be either an interested car buyer or have a car

2) since u lookin for tyres, assumption 1) holds true, and that u have a car

3) u have 2 arms to steer, 2 legs to drive, 2 eyes to see the road

4) u can get into your car, start the engine, drive to the nearest tyre shop, autobacs, stamford tyres or wat not

5) u can ask the shop owner/staff if they do have gr80

6) u can read the recent postings that indeed gr80 is STILL in stock, NOT obselete, and u can indeed buy them

OR

maybe my assumptions are wrong, and thats very sad...*cough*

the gr80 is aka "regno gr8000" in nipponland, and the sizes are available here http://item.rakuten.co.jp/nf/c/0000000613/ , with pics too

its UTQG should be 280-a-a

u can google "bridgestone regno 8000" for more info

Didn't know that GR80 = GR8000 in japan. Checked for the GR8000 and all sites are in Japanese.... I can't read it.

Should everyone use their 2 arms, 2 legs and 2 eyes to get to the shop or distributor to find out more about a product... take whatever feedack/advise from the shop.... then I think there's no need for a car forum in the first place to share info.

Besides, I don't like to enquire at shops before doing my own homework..... there's just too many shops that will sing praises for something that they'd wanna sell.

Anyway, if by asking for assistance results in such comments from you.... I'd rather you not answer to any of my queries in the future. Just ignore my posts (I'll extend the same courtesy to you) and we stay outta each others way.

(edited)
? Michelins (what I'm using now) seems to be more lasting but typically noiser.

Which model of Michelin are you using? MVX8? When I was in Hong Kong, there was a good review/critics on MVX8. It was tested on a ESTIMA. In general, it scores very well in road noise and comfort but like to scream when cornering.

Regards,
