Hi there, been riding a bike for like ten years already, just passed my class three and I'm contemplating on getting a Matrix. Are there any reasons against the Matrix or would it be a great first car? How would this car compare to the Proton Waja? Which is the better of the two?

Hi! sync,

welcome to MCF! [thumbsup]

matrix IMO is not bad a choice only that the Fuel consumption is on the high side [sweatdrop]

PM me if u don't know any hyndai SE, i should be able to intro one, and she should be able to give u all the free gift u can get [thumbsup]

as for waja, QC is a big problem, i'll rather go for wira if i were to get a proton for it's relatively cheaper and have better pickup + better FC.

maintenance wise of coz waja is cheaper coz u can get the job done in jb [thumbsup]

hi,

i like the looks and the space but not the consumption and pick up

in my opinion if you travel short distances like my ex boss and ferries pple often, you can consider the matrix.

but if you drive around a lot and likes to chiong, get the waja instead.

Seems like the Waja is very favourable. I'll have to test drive that. What freebies comes with the car and what comes as standard? And shop to recommend?

I would love to get the VIOS, but that seems to be out of my price range, considering Borneo Motors requirements for booking the car.

Is it advisable to wait for the New Year to see the gaments new policy on cars, or should I go ahead and chiong, get one now ASAP?

After checking on the price of Waja, it seems that I can't afford it (More expensive than Matrix).

Right now I'm eyeing those 2001/2 Toyota Corollas or Nissan Sunnys, looks affordable, though I don't really like dealer 'mod'ed cars, they seem to grease the paint work to make it shinier, and probably pour a whole bottle of car perfume everywhere (even the boot) to make the car smell nicer (yuck!).

Would a cheaper but new Wira (at 58K++, same price as those '01/'02 cars) be a better deal instead?

Think your better off buying a 2nd hand Wira. You can check with Gadgeter whos driving one now wink.gif or come for meetup to see and discuss further lor smile.gif

In this case you rather get Hyundai Matrix.

FC can be high but depend very much on how you drive.

A lot of Matrixes on the road now. People don buy it if it is

so hopeless.

Know your budget and compare them all. [thumbsup]

With that price and space, I think Matrix is a good choice to decide.

At least it is better than getting a resale cars.

Test drive it and of course decision is up to you.

Don expect to drive Matrix like a Evo, gear up and touch the redline

faster than a Honda SIR or racing purpose but it is a car that ferry

you comfortably from point to point. [thumbsup]

How does the Matrix fare on long trips, say to KL and back. And what about going up to Genting? ca

Hi Sync,

First of all, welcome to MCF, we hope you enjoy your stay with us.

When comparing both Matrix and Waja. Here goes:

Matrix - Problem encountered by friends:

high F/C (Fuel consumption).

Manual Gear with auto accelerator.

Waja

higher F/C compared with Wira.

**************************

Question: Other than the price of the car, what else is more important? Power? look? maintenance?

My previous ride was a scooby (Impreza), and my current is a wira. Although in term of handling, sound of engine, Wira is no-where near my scooby. But the maintenance cost of Wira win Scooby by almost 200%!

Imagine, original oil filter cost only RM7. And if you want to change to crystal headlights? not problem, RM330 includes installation..

If you are keen in getting a Wira, best to go for 1.6M...

Last but not least, make sure you calculate everything properly before you commit to a car.. When I first change from riding to driving, my first car (old corolla) almost squeeze me dry... realise wallet gets thinner everyday..bigcry.gif

I do not own one.

My brother-in-law has it and Malaysia is his weekend destination.

He told me that car is ok to run point to point but racing of course NO.

FC is high but because of that you rush to buy a 2nd hand car just to save some money on that? [crazy] Well, very subjective. Some might choose to do that. No right or wrong.

Up to each individual. [thumbsup]

Hi, I was in the same situation last month, deciding which car to buy. Was considering New Matrix & Accent. After some calculation, end up bought a second-hand Elantra.

Because, it is more affordable and serving lesser installment each month, also Elantra is very spacious. cheers.... [thumbsup]
