that time u told me i already fixed liao... smile.gif

how to know whether is the piston ring...any signs?

do a compression test...but then check for oil leak at the bottom first...nod.gif

A piston carry two to three compression rings and one or more scraper ring. The compression rings when under compression pressure will expanse and form a very tight seal. The whole idea is to have best possible compression. The scrap ring will works during the piston downward strokes - its job is to scrap all the excess engine oil and allow them to drop into the oil pan.If the scraper ring is unable to function properly, the excess oil on the cylinder wall will be burnt during power stroke - the end result you will have slight blue smoke coming out from the tail pipe.

Once the compression rings wear off, the piston will loose is stability and during power strokes the combustion force will cause the piston to "slap" very hard against the cylinder wall. Overtime there will be excess wear and tear on the cylinder wall, loose of compression thereby allowing combustion gases to escape into the oil pan which in turns will contaminate the engine oil.

this morning when i check, got a corner of the cam cover seems moist with oil...

wonder could that be the leak?

would there be any signs to tell that the leak is in the combustion chamber besides the engine oil reduce?

One simple way to check for combustion gas and oil leak via cylinder head gasket - open radiator cap (to be safe do it when the engine is not running and at cold stage )inspect for oil stain. Run engine, allow the coolant to warm up - inspect for oil stain and presence of air bubbles. To get more combustion pressure to escape via the cylinder head gasket, increase engine speed ( beware of hot water splashing out )

Alternatively you can get your mechanics to do a combustion leak down test. The simple process is to introduce compressed air ( with a leak down tester) into the combsution chamber ( piston should be at compression stroke) and listen with a mechanics stethoscope for escaping air noise. If the noise is detected at the oil dip stick opening, it indicates the piston and rings are already wear out

Hope this helps
