Raycsk Neutral Newbie January 30, 2004 Share January 30, 2004 but by closing time, they haven't found out the cause of the problem yet. luckily the provided a laser for my dad overnite and ask him to go back the following day. aft 2 days of time wasting, u know wat... the mechanic told my dad that this was a common problem in all ford cars. i was thinking, if its common, why take 2 days to troubleshoot(cant u juz go do e damn thing up)? and also its a 1st hand car, so very well taken care of... how come such things happend. driven so many cars before but nv seen such a problem. juz wondering if any bros out here have the same problem as me? be it focus, mondeo, fiesta or juz any conti make? Hi, Just some of my thoughts. The leak is probably came from water seepage via small gaps at the evaporator pipe connections. Its not a common fault as per say for all Ford cars but rather the Focus only. However the failure rate I think is about 1 in 10. As to why it was difficult to troubleshoot, RM along with all other service centre usually have this explosion of customer coming in to service their cars just before the new year. Henceforth, shorthanded and insufficient staff as some had already gone on leave. I think it was very gracious of them to offer your dad a car for the festive season. A friend who drove a Brand New car with some warrnty claim had to go rent one by himself as his was sitting at the service centre. Coming back to the leak. Its not simply opening up the windscreen base panel and applying sealant everywhere. Its having to trace the source of the leak, apply the sealant, test for leaking then replace everything back, dry the interior. Those who have repair cars will understand and appreciate what I mean. I do not work for RM nor am trying to defend them as per say. I am merely stating facts. I was at their Ubi service centre on the Eve of the New Year and it was a mad house. The fault is not serious and funny it seems to occur in the 2003 batches. I never had such a problem with mine.
