Genie47 1st Gear June 28, 2004 Share June 28, 2004 Potenza GIIIs are good but consider the S03 if you got the cash . Those I listed are the affordable performance ones.
Gadgeter 2nd Gear June 28, 2004 Share June 28, 2004 I have had bad experience with the 326.... A bit negative toward Falken tires....
Eskimo Neutral Newbie June 28, 2004 Share June 28, 2004 Nah, my using a weekend car shows that I am very short of cash. The GIII will be enough for me when I do upgrade from existing Kumho 758 Potenza GIIIs are good but consider the S03 if you got the cash . Those I listed are the affordable performance ones. Owen_fan 2nd Gear June 28, 2004 Share June 28, 2004 GIII quite good , I have changed to it for about 3 months.
Genie47 1st Gear June 28, 2004 Share June 28, 2004 Then the Kumho 712s if you are really cash strapped. Really you cannot go wrong with them. Performance w/o the price. Go Yap Bros. Do know that they are noisier than quiet comfort tires but the safety they afford is invaluable. Long wearing as well.
Eskimo Neutral Newbie June 29, 2004 Share June 29, 2004 Thanks for the confirmation GIII quite good , I have changed to it for about 3 months
Eskimo Neutral Newbie June 29, 2004 Share June 29, 2004 Your recommendation noted , for something that is light on the pocket. Who knows I might be a Kumho 712 convert.

Orixy 2nd Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 Am using BRGoodrich g-Force Sport currently. I've used almost similarly ranged tyres: Yoko ES100 and Bridgestone GIII before. Out of the 3 tyres, the g-Force Sport gives me best balance of good grip and comfort. Its also lower priced than the other 2. ES100 gives very good grip initially. But after 10,000Km, tyres became very noisy and grip detriorates quite a bit. GIII also gives very good grip and lasts very long too. I've clocked more than 20,000Km on previous GIII and still it grips well, but a tad noisier.
Leonknapp Clutched July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 Thats good to hear Orixy! keep us updated on the tyres! im keen to try these tyres out when my michelin precedas wear off. btw I have already clocked 52k km on my precedass and with regular rotating boy do they last!!! The tyre shop said the tyre can even clock 80k to even 100k before they need to be changed! of course with regular rotations. anyway he said that continental tyres last much longer than than Japanese tyres and I kinda agree. previous 2 sets of yokos lasted only 40k+ each. So Im leaning towards the gforce as they are under michelin and are very value for money!
Jaason Neutral Newbie July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 Me using Bridgestone Tauranza GR 80 too. Really silent and good comfort ride. Only disadv is that is is a little higher than Yokohama AD Spe tyres. Weight 8.2kg insteag of Yoko's 7.5Kg. Guess not so FC then. I a waiting to see my consumption rate.. Vtim 3rd Gear July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 hey Orix, I'm also considering the g-Force Sport, is it a "AA" UTQG Traction Rating & do you know the tread wear TIA
Slowpoke156 Neutral Newbie July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 I do not think the g-Force Sport is in the same category as the GIII and ES100, which are both Grade A tyres. The g-Force sport is more a "High performance summer tyre" rather than a Grade A. I would grade it a B+. The g-Force T/A KDW 2 is another story altogether, which the local dealer does not want to bring in anymore. Those still on sale are the old stock are only KDW, not version 2 without dual compound threads. For tyres in the Grade A category, you have: 1. Potenza GIII 2. Potenza RE750 and RE730 3. Potenza 010 and 040 4. Yokohama AVS ES100 5. Kumho Supra Ecsta 712 6. BFGoodridge g-Force T/A KDW (and version 2) 7. Firestone Firehawk SZ50 (and the newer EP version) 8. Goodyear Eagle F1 (and the newer and better F1 GSD3) How I know? Because I'm looking for new wheels too! :)
Leonknapp Clutched July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 Actually, Im quite sure the Gforce can match the performance of the Level A tyres such as the ES100, GIII and Preceda etc. The top of the line locally for BF Goodrich is the Profiler G which is supposed to compete with the SO3, Pilot Sports basically level AA tyres. I was not aware they brought in the KDW last time. wow that one has radical threads man! Also, the RE750 does not seem to be available here, correct me if im wrong bro. Personally, I have friends who use the Gforce on track and they actually say that its a good dependable tyre given the price. More worthwhile than the 712s some say. Cheers! Slowpoke156 Neutral Newbie July 7, 2004 Share July 7, 2004 The RE750 is indeed not available locally, which is a real pity. I've actually narrowed down to 2 choices, the SZ50 or RE730 (hard to find, got lobang?). I'm staying off Kumhos after hearing from a reputable car tuner about his client's cars getting into trouble with the 712s. For the g-Force Sport, I've been reading quite a bit and it has always been classified as a mid-range performance tyre, not Grade A with the ES100 and GIII. I'll try to find the links again and post them if I can. It's good to share info like these, consumers can only gain from it! ↡ Advertisement
