Lightspeed Clutched September 8, 2004 Share September 8, 2004 Are your rear brakes drums or discs? Might be the pads if discs

Darganz Neutral Newbie September 9, 2004 Author Share September 9, 2004 ehh...change brake pads and drum...how much will it cost??
Beanoyip Turbocharged September 9, 2004 Share September 9, 2004 Pads should be around $80-100 per pair. Drums i'm not so sure. You're so sure that the squeaky sound is coming from the drums? I thought drums never produce any noise.
Virus 2nd Gear September 9, 2004 Share September 9, 2004 Drum also using brake pad but in different shape. As mention in my previous post, my rear brake drum squeal like nobody business. After cleaning, OK liow. Copy to Darganz, you may like to do some hardbraking (in some safe place), it may help to clear away some of the brake dust. Gendut 2nd Gear September 9, 2004 Share September 9, 2004 I had the same problem on my previous Octy. Had the shoes replaced but the sound came back. Now I presume it is not the shoes that is the problem. This is especially so when the brakes are cold. Did not sort it out.
Darganz Neutral Newbie September 9, 2004 Author Share September 9, 2004 Virus: Thanks for your info! Beanoyip: Thanks for your help too! Gendut: I think you have a point. My dad oso told me that once the brakes get heated up, there wont be any sound...bt I dont understand his logic! haha!
Moeykf Neutral Newbie September 9, 2004 Share September 9, 2004 wat ur dad said is also true. my octy 1 month old already got squeak sound, every morning will squeak from the carpark to the main road but after a while the sound goes off once its heated up. it could be due to the accumulation of brake dust also. " S_Man, Yeps, I noticed that using non stock pads do give squels especially if its not properly fit. I had Mintex pads fit on my Fab when I purchased it in Dec 01.....70k of driving later, I gave up on the squeeling & screeches & reverted to stock......peace now !! but downside with these Textar pads......horrible brake dust
