Hi

i'm a noob here. Plan to get a new car soon, when I wandered into this forum. Since then, I couldnt get the Optra5 out of my head; its a constant struggle to decide betw an Altis [:|] and an Optra5 [;)]

Went for a test drive last sat. Since I've nvr own a car, I couldnt really tell if the ride was good or not. didnt go highway nor over super-bumpy roads either. What to watch out for when test-driving?

I really need to ask those Optra5 owners out there. Despite the worse FC and numerous problems I read abt, why did u guys still get the Optra5? Esp when Altis price has matched the Optra5.

thanks in adv for any advice!

Hi Blindedbyheadlites,

Most of the problems you have read about Optra are managable problems. In any case the new one that you might be getting would have many of the flaws rectified already. As for the FC, it really depends on the driver... your right leg got to be light-footed... don't keep raving your ride... There are quite a number of Optra owners are achieving around 13km/l for their FC after the 1K run-in. So in general... Don't worry too much about it.

The reason i choose Optra was more of "love at 1st sight" and i felt that the Altis was not that impressive. Its just in the overall feel of the car. ask yourself do you like the ride? are you impress by it? choose what you really want so that you have no regrets.

I felt good driving the Optra (like driving a conti car). The Altis was like normal no extra "oomph" for me when i was in it. Other than this, the primary reason was the safety features that Optra provides, its a very sturdy car, heavy, and good road holding... I think safety is more important than anything else when you buy a car, be it popularity or money value. Check with your SE on the safety features that Optra has.

Hope i have help resolve some of your doubts...

Cheers!

Hi should go for OPTRA 1.6A (I bought from my friend at the Chevy agent)

1) OPTRA undercarriage is coated

2) No matter how u protect your car itsstill depent the other car owner or the PPL walking toward your car who scratch your car.

3) I've got my Classic (USA)solar Film fix at S$108 @ cool customs (ubi)

I,ve MOD my car with the Air Injet and get the ppl in the service agent to test my car and it proven by them too.

Hi guys,

thanks for all the pointers! i am feeling the poison already!

so it seems most of the niggly problems started mainly in the early optra batches (sorry optra owners [:p] ) but were rectified in the optra5? wonder if it has to do with the optra being made in Thailand while the optra5 was in S Korea?

on the accessories, is it cheaper to get things e.g. vkool on your own rather than thru the Chevy dealer? What accessories wld u guys advise to ask from the SE in terms of priority? The SE i spoke to 'offered' reverse sensors and windvisors only after i asked her for freebies. She claimed things like anti-rust and tuff coat are a waste of $$. Is that so?

last qn - is the optra5 engine a D-TEC or E-TEC II? the website show D-TEC but the brochure has a pic of E-TEC II. Forgot to open the bonnet to see [:p]

thanks again!

Hi all,

I am buying car 1st time: my primary choices was Cerato, VIOS, matrix. Was having heacahe of which one to choose [dizzy][dizzy]... can't decide... until...

I went into leng kee chevrolet showroom today to check out aveo. And saw Optra... and after some nego. got offered this: optra manual, with 5 CD changer, sport rim with, no leader seat $50k... and it is a testdrive car from Ubi showroom.

Please can anyone tell me is it worth to buy a test drive car? err... i.e. is it normally tempered badly?

How is the second hand market value for Chevrolet? It is possible tht i might release it after 4~6yrs. Advise please please...

Another thing is, just found out tht the price list passed to me by SE is 1k above the newpaper advertisement (aveo). Hmm.... would tht mean others is also 1k above? think of doing more bargain... the SE is reserving the car but I can still change my mind b4 tomorrow noon... [dizzy][dizzy][dizzy]
