Andrewtankw 1st Gear October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 Hi there! I am stuck in a rut. Last weekend went over to look at Toyota corolla and the Honda Cic Exi. The price is about the same for both. But I was wondering which is more worth it? Apparently the OMV is different between the 2 with the Honda being slightly higher at 17K vs the corolla at 14K. SHould this factor heavily? Also need some advice on the relative performance and maybe some info on the plus and minus between the 2. Considerations : Toyota 1.5XLi vs the Honda Civic EXi (Auto or manual ) Appreciate any help. Thanks, -Andrew ↡ Advertisement
Mondeo Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 To me, I will take Exi, since lesser on the road. Manual or Auto is depend the usage, always meet the traffic jam, than Auto is better choice, if need faster pick up, or aftermarket performance parts~take the mannual then. Sparetyre Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 Is the EXi a VTEC or iVTEC engine?
Freemason Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 EXi is a single cam engine....whereas the VTEC...err... "DOHC lacing engine"

Sparetyre Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 I think there are both SOHC VTEC and DOHC VTEC but is the current EXi a VTEC engine? My point is: I will not buy a Honda without VTEC engine. That's what you pay a premium for right? When I was shopping for my current car, was attracted by the competitive pricing by some of the PIs on the 2.3L Accord. Checked them out and realised they are not the same as the 2.3L Accord KM is selling. They are the non-VTECs.

Freemason Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 EXi is the new name for current civics is it?EXi is just a SOHC only, for SOHC VTEC is a VTi? the old name is known as ESi, that 1 i noe got SOHC VTEC. ya i think most ppl wouldnt wanna buy a car without VTECs.thats Honda's specialty i guess. u mean PIs accord's are non VTECs huh? err....anybody please correct me if i am wrong with my statement
Sparetyre Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 Dun worry my bro, no one will you if you are wrong. We tried our best to be correct already. BTW, that's exactly my understanding too. Maybe those Honda bros can shed some light to this. Maybe not all the PI Accords are non-VTEC. At least those I checked out are non-VTEC.
Freemason Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 yeah, perhaps some honda owners can help us a bit on this, esp since u and 1 belong to the diamond clan i say, that accord u checked out, is it the EuroR?

Mondeo Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 (edited) I read the Wheels this month, may be the price is for original price Anyway S$100K for 1.7l also not worth it. Edited October 21, 2002 by Mondeo
Sparetyre Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 I think that's the 1.7L. Only the 2L is using the new i-VTEC.
Freemason Neutral Newbie October 21, 2002 Share October 21, 2002 EuroR sure looks good huh but whats the i infront of the i-VTEC actually stands for? ↡ Advertisement
