I'll take a look at the condition of the doughnuts when the car is on the lift to decide 

there is some play when shifting from D to R and R to D, but acceptable to me

planning to drive for another 2 years max

if drive for 10 years, I'll definitely change them at the midpoint, which is now

you inspect the gearbox mount and see. Don’t need to change for just because workshop say might as well. Same with coils. I only change one. So far I have added another 30-40k km after just changing one coil. 

the gearbox mount is cheap

for OCD people like me, not worth skipping it

otherwise see doctor money will be much higher than the cost of the gearbox mount 

my psychologist hourly rate is more expensive than a piece of marseelee gearbox mount 😅

those DIY-able things I will only change the defective one instead of a set, i.e. coils, bulbs, wheel speed sensor etc

it will affect the physical health too, vice versa

Did you check loading of your place. Tools very heavy… possible to exceed floor loading as you continue to buy? 😂

the engine rattles like a diesel whenever it is idling in gear

spent half an hour troubleshooting

I guess I know the source and the cause of the rattling noise

will tackle it this weekends when I am free

the rattling noise is related to the change of new engine mounts

this is not my car but similar layout

 

the engine (red) is supported by engine mounts

cold air intake scoop (blue) is on the chassis

the two are connected by a intake hose (yellow)

engine (red) will shake left and right during idling

COI scoop is secured by 4 plastic pins, by right it shouldn't move

the yellow pipe has two accordion sections to allow movement between the engine and the scoop

by right everything tight and quiet

after engine/gearbox mounts replacement, there is a rattling noise from the engine cabin during idling

sound like an old diesel engine

I found the noise coming from the COI scoop 

new engine mounts are softer comparing to the old worn ones, allowing more engine movement

and that movement transferred to the COI scoop via the intake pipe

harden plastic accordion sections + worn COI scoop plastic pins + more engine movement after mounts replacement = rattles!

I removed the cold air intake scoop by pulling out 4 plastic pins

applied 3M double sided foam tape to several locations

now it doesn't move anymore

will update after test drive 😁
