Can I on the radio without the engine on?

which means its running on battery... will the battery die faster? Or it's better to turn on the engine?

If your radio is just basically stock unit without any amps or big speakers attached to it, then on your radio without ur engine started is ok.

But try not on it for too long tho. 15min should be ok.

 

But if your radio is aftermarket with huge amps, woofer and speakers, i suggest you to start up ur engine first before u power up ur HU.

You will kill your battery very fast.

Just plug in a solar trickle charger and you will have enough power for yr radio

Usually on the weekends when I wait in the car, I turn on the radio for up to an hour plus - with engine off. No problems. My battery lasts me 3 yrs on average. Using Yuasa NS40 battery.

 

The conventional battery lasts longer than maintenance free battery
