By the way, I've got access to Mitchell on Demand and it states that when brake applied, torque converter clutch will released. There are other scenerio that the TCC will apply or release.

There's a circuit on the brake that connects to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). So when brake applied, signal sent to PCM and hydraulic clutch will release the TCC.

 

And by the way, are we discussing the same kind of TC? Lock up or non lock up type?

Talking about push rods, I had my first automotive lessons using push rod, or rather OHV engines as training aids. I used to dismantle that old work horse and guess what...not a single push rod was straight.

 

As for TCC...hmm...what you enplained is entirely possible...but I still don't understand why would they want to do that. Of course the scenario you mentioned involved PCM...and not all cars on the road(at least for S'pore) have PCMs. Some cars have ECU to control the engine and a TCM(transmission control module) to control the tranny...some just have the ECU and leave it to the hydraulics to control the tranny...for a PCM, it controls both the engine and the tranny.

Vtecc, I believe that you are driving a newer model City. Do you know that there was a City Turbo in the 80s. I liked that car when I was young at that time. It looked real good with full bodykit and a tiny little turbo under the hood.

 

I had Automotive education too, but did it in the States. Diploma leh! You? NTC 2 or 3? Just my hobby learning this skill and am able to work on all my collections. Did you upgrade yourself? Most cars have lots of electronics, especially Chrysler.
