"Any good driving instructor to recommend?"

Hi! there, Jason,

It's been too long since I've got through my driving test, so no-one to recommend. I've got a friend whose son got his licence on his first test at the driving centre in Yio Chu Kang. He went through the driving centre course, but they don't have a particular instructor for you every time.

Rgds

Neutral Newbie

I think the driving schools are the best place to go .... a bit ex but they do things the correct way, like a school.

You go through several instrcutors but if there is a particular one you like, you can always request for him or her when u book your lessons.

Can you recommend my instructor to you

Here's his record from me onwards

Lightspeed - 2nd Try (dun ask [:/] its all a civic's fault [rifle] )

Zhihui - 2nd Try

Kok Leong - 2nd Try

Sophia - 1st Try

Serene - 1st Try

Sharon - 1st Try

Audrey - 1st Try

Valerie - 1st Try

Zhishen - 1st Try

(haha...hope my frens wun mind me posting their test results here [:p] )

As you can see ... the women usually pass on the 1st try [sweatdrop]

This is only counting the people I know, some of them have recommended their own friends to this instructor and so far no complaints.

He's a nice chap...and so far from what I've learnt, I'm the only person he made pull over and gave a lecture [laugh] so much for my driving skills! [laugh][laugh]

But seriously, he's good and most importantly nice [thumbsup]

I currently have another 2 friends taking lessons from him [;)]

Rates are resonable too...

(if I had passed on the 1st try I would only have spent around $700 total)

Just call and ask for a quote! Think its $22 per hour or something... no obligations [;)]

Ask for Mr Lim.

The Skool or private instructors only give you the basic, no matter whatelse they try to tell you........ what they call advance lessons etc, are juz something to better equip you for the jungle warfare out there daily..........

As i look back, the first few months after passing the test and started driving in REAL traffic and do battles with REAL drivers are the period of time when i really learned..........

.......so for all 'Pyramid' drivers out there, please continue learning and dun think you already know how to run when in fact you are still crawling....... ( i better take cover now, i can see bricks flying towards me now.....)

Tip #1: Always check your rear view mirror, not to see if you still look handsome or cool, but to see if my car is behind ........ if you see it, please give way..... [:p][:p]

Cheers

4 points on first attempt [shocked]

I got 10 points... for driving slowly! [laugh][laugh][laugh]

My instructor was very good as well, most of my friends who were under him passed 1st time round - he was the one who gave me that sagely advice concerning pedestrians blissfully jaywalking: "Don't worry, bang got sound"

Got to dig up his contact again...

Hi All,

Under my driving instructor I also pass first time round.

Ah...well, actually I forgot to mentioned that under another instructor, 3 times still fail. Sigh...

I tried first time under the old system at queenstown. Fail by one blardy point. The tester just won't pass means won't pass. I was only 17 at that time, so many he worried that I was too young.

Second time also at Queenstown, got by lucky draw. Those who used that system would understand. Failed very badly.

Third time was right after NS. Also failed.

So fed up, I went for my motorcycle test instead. Also failed.

Pass only on second attempt. After one year on the road. Passing the driving test was chicken feet. Only 1 point penalty. Maybe the tester like the way I waved and gave way to a bus driver like an old bird... hahahah

But I think, now take the test, I'll probably failed. Have picked up too many bad habits.

hmmm...... you are half rite and half wong ...... like most other senior members here, i guess i learned my driving not at the driving range, neither did i learn it in the drying machine in your friendly laundramart...........

i learned my driving for $5 an hour, fetch n sendhome included..... the car was a 50s Morris Minor......... the gear stick was the longer i have seen: about 600mm and it was located well forward that my left arm suffered "over-stretched" injury after each lesson.....

the driver seat was foolly adjustable: we had to use a piece or two of timber beams placed under the seat to adjust its height and tilt...... other than tat, the rest of the adustments were pretty much fixed permanently in the factory in UK........

the signal lights were complemented by a little spring loaded gadget hidden in the B-pilard and it would spring out when the front/rear signal blinkers were lit.....btw, there was only one sigle signal switch: it's located at the centre of the steering wheel together with the horn button..... [;)]

for better natural ventilation, there was a quarter swing glass panel located at the front portion of the front side window....... [sweatdrop]

appreciate if other senior members could add to the descriptions of a typical learner vehicle in the good ole days........ [cool][cool]

cheers [:p]
