Engine flush

Hi guys,

I plan to do a engine flush at my next servicing. I drive a 2+ yrs old Suzuki Ignis and it has clocked about 34,000km. I plan to use RP 10W-30 after the flush, currently using Shell 20W-50 semi synethetic from Malaysia as my mum's friend bought the wrong oil. [dead][dizzy]

Question is, do I pour the engine flulsh in and then drive to the workshop or must I pour the engine flush at the workshop and let the car idle for 20-30min?

Any brand of engine flush to recommend and where can I get one? Is Amsoil engine flush avaliable here?

Tks :)

I was thinking either a 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil as its recommended in the manual. As for the engine flush, I thought it might be good as the car has done mostly heavy city driving until recently.

Thanks for the replies. [nod][wave]

I'm still deciding whether to use a 30 or 40 weight oil. What do you guys recommend? Do most highway driving nowadays.

Tks :)

Every time you replace your engine oil, you are actually doing flushing. All the carbon particles and wear materials are finally trap in the oil filter. Always change oil and filter as per yr handbook adv and use reputable engine oil and OEM oil filter. By following the "bible" faithfully yr engine will have a pink of health for a long time to come.

yeah, I agree that he might not need to flushing since his car's so new.

But I think I need to "flush" out my dinosaur Swift with Auto-RX![laugh]

Anyone with any experience using Auto-RX?

i think i read somewhere that the editor says that the engine do not need flushing. The engine oil that we put in has already the correct amount of detergent and some chemical agents that will wash the engine off any particles n trap it in the oil filter. by flushing, u r actually hurting the engine as it will unneccessarily flush away the protective chemical agents needed by the engine......i read it hor......i tink got some thruth in it as finally it says that the term flushing engine is just a gimmick to sell n make profit.......i dunno.....unimpressed.gif
