Which Car? Matrix or Sunny

Hi to all. I need some advise. I know that this forum may not generate the most neutral replies, but I'm gonna try, anyway.

 

Have been thinking of getting either the Matrix (1.8A) or the Sunny (1.6A). I know both are totally different cars. But, what do the existing drivers of Matrix have to say?

 

Matrix plus points (to me)

1. Big interior: Can put suitcase and scuba diving gear

2. Can put high things

 

Matrix minus points (again, subjective, to me only)

1. No power (must get the 1.8 version to have power)

2. Engine not smooth

 

Please be nice hor... Cos I dunno much about cars, except they can move.

if you do carry heavy loads regularly, suggest u get a car with a real boot ....., in this case, the sunny sedan

u know, before i got my sunny, every1 say sunny's a drinker. I thought it does 6-8km/l like the trajet or something.

but on a stock, 10-12 is achievable.

Pros

 

1. Space, can fit a MTB without taking out the front wheel.

2. More power, once you start to fetch a full load of people, you will thank God for the 200cc extra displacement.

3. Big inside but small outside so parking is easy.

4. Engine is less busy than the 1.6, hence quieter while cruising.

5. Can give a lot of bigger cars a run for their money, in terms of traffic light sprints and eway driving.

 

Cons

 

1. Road tax higher then my previous Accent, about $625 per six months.

2. FC is about 7.5km - 10.5km/l, it's a 1.8 after all (Depending on driving style, traffic and the usual factors, I'm on 16s).

3. Cannot corner, then again, which MPV can corner

4. Brakes are spongy (nature of all the Matrix I think).

5. The A pillar is a little on the big side so got to watch out when doing turns.

 

Got my ride in April and already travelled 18800. No pre-mature wear and tear yet.

 

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. A lot of car for a lot less money. If only they come with a VVTI engine, that will be even better. Wishful thinking.

 

Base on the price and interest rate now, I think it is a good buy. Though my was already a good buy then.

Will the New FL nissan sunny using CVTC technology save FC? The nissan SE has told me

it is easily achieve 12km/litre...

Matrix i'm driving a 1.6A (bought at 62,888 3mths back), so consider 59K for a 1.8A, it is a good buy.

 

I've no complaints for Matrix except for the slightly high FC, but if you compare the FC with sunny... they equally drinkers (so don't compare their FC since they almost on par)... so compare their cabin space... and it is evident that Matrix has a bigger leg room and spacious interior.

 

For your lifestyle, I bet Matrix is your best choice (wouldn't look good if you drive a Sunny for the sports you're into, just my 2cents worth).

 

Btw, I thought there are new Nissan models making their ways to our shores... Latio is the replacement model for Sunny??? Correct me if I'm wrong. Wouldn't it make sense not to buy something that will be outdated very soon? As for Matrix, there are still no news of any facelift (thats good news for me at least).

 

But talking about FC, it has been discussed upteem times here, it all boils down to how you drive.

 

Its up to you to decide for yourself, go for test drives, then you will know which your heart favours.

N16 Auto - my latest mileage is 10.9km/l. past average slightly above 10. oni done 2k km, too early to tell. friends 2 yr old stock sunny doing 12+, another 6 months old stock doing 11+.

Latio is 1.5l.. Meant to fight with Vios. The new Sunny should be coming down late next year or 2006..

Wow... So many replies. Just tested the 1.8 Matrix. Seems good but only white and the cream silver available.

 

My driving style: My wife will use the car most of the time, and she does 0 to 100 in 100 seconds (Really slow acceleration). So, FC shouldn't be an issue, right?

 

We clock about 350 to 400 km/week. Now have Mazda 323, but find the boot a little small. Matrix is definitely bigger!!

I used to own a Sunny 1.6auto, and my FC is around 11km/l. As for which car you would want at the end, you must definitely test drive both models and evaluate which gives you the drive experience or satisfaction you're looking for..... to me this is also very important.

my sunny runs less than 10km/litre.

 

running on 16inch sports rim, high power amp for ICE, microcompressor, strut bar, open pod air filter.

 

for matrix, dun like the car, plus underpower, fuel consumption is no betta than sunny for the 1.6 model. 1.8, prepare to pay more for petrol.

handling for sunny is not too bad and in terms of comfortability. matrix, never had chance to drive one, sat one b4. spacious is wad i can say. but matrix is all around on the road. so i still prefer my sunny.
