Sotong_kia Neutral Newbie April 4, 2005 Share April 4, 2005 Eh.. Your airbag activated ? How ??? Air bag got holes one.. not like balloon.. After they inflate, will deflate and flatten. Else ah, before rescuers come, driver die from suffocation of airbag.. Is it true airbag need to totally replace ? Cannot just fold back, put talcum powder, then replace the gas cannister ?? haha Not like parachute, can fold back one..

Kopikao Neutral Newbie April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Wow... that's bad news.. Dun mind asking what happened?
Genie47 1st Gear April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Not surprised it is a total loss. Chevy airbags are very difficult to activate. If they do, it must really be bad.
Silver_blade Turbocharged April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Sorry to hear that. At least you know you were driving a safe car.

Sotong_kia Neutral Newbie April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Oh dear. So sorry to hear that. And so short a time you own the Optra5. So the 9K profit you are talking about the entire car ? I hope you are getting a new car using Insurance money ?
Jet8998 Neutral Newbie April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 (edited) Just share with u, total lose might not mean the accident is very bad.... I was involved in an accident last year , it's not very serious and the repair cost is only around $2k but N*U* decided to total lose my 6 years old Wira... the reason giving is - it is not economy to repair my car as the market value for my car is same as scrap value . After talking to few peoples in N*U* , finally they willing to repair my car but I decided to scrap my car and get a new car. Jet8998 Neutral Newbie April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Sorry to hear that... How much is the estimated repair cost for your car? There is a badly damaged Optra in SA Ubi workshop last month.... SA told me the repair cost is around $21k and the Insurance Company is willing to repair the car... I am sure the Insurance Company is not N*U*. I believe you are on N*U*, right? Genie47 1st Gear April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Actually knowing Chevy, the impact is really great because in the US, Honda bang a little the airbag will fire. Chevy must bang damn hard like a direct hit from cruise missile then wil activate .
Maded Neutral Newbie April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 ..but the Optras and Kalos aren't made in the US of A will the sensitivity of the air bag be the same?
Stary Turbocharged April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Dude, but his one new car leh....so if total loss...then must be quite bad liow... But at least he is still here typing....meaning the car must have protected him well.
Jet8998 Neutral Newbie April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 I just like to share not all the total loss case is very bad... I agreed with you, for his case should be very bad.
Genie47 1st Gear April 5, 2005 Share April 5, 2005 Lots of normal accidents up to 30-40mph reported. Most Optra and Aveo don't fire airbags but the other car usually kenna airbag fired. ↡ Advertisement
