Genie47 1st Gear June 24, 2005 Share June 24, 2005 How big are your wheels? Smaller wheels spin easier than big wheels.

Firstcall Clutched June 24, 2005 Author Share June 24, 2005 My current is 17". All my past rides spin also. 14", 16" also have. even big wheels on those for Rav4.... but prevously were due to poor thread. Will only happen when starting too fast where the power on wheels are greater than the grip available....
Firstcall Clutched June 24, 2005 Author Share June 24, 2005 (edited) yes for my case if wheel thread not good and floor all the way, sure spin even when dry. On wet condition, with relatively new tyres just found out today, just a jack rabit start with a quick half prod on the accelerator will spin the wheels. I believe most people will experience that. Lorrliew Neutral Newbie June 24, 2005 Share June 24, 2005 From my experience, it is true for manual cars as a results of clutch/accelerator coordination. Been driving auto for my last 4 cars, no spining of wheels.
Turbonetics 2nd Gear June 24, 2005 Share June 24, 2005 i hav heard n seen a Volvo wheel spin from stationary... dat was my 1 n only time hearing tyre screeching from an auto car.. i guess the Gegacy GT can also do it...
BMW320i Neutral Newbie June 24, 2005 Share June 24, 2005 If 1 of my tires has 100% contact on the white strip of paint at the traffic junction and I floor the bugger, there'll be slight wheel spin but usually the ASC will kick in very early so its minimal. In Multi storey carpark yes if I stepped a little too hard.
Elfenstar 3rd Gear June 24, 2005 Share June 24, 2005 Aye thats right, I voted yes, but I do know how to control the car without having wheelspin. Easiest way in truth is to start moving off from 2nd gear on a wet day if you're not that good in controling the power that going to the wheels. (as an additional note, I do know how to spin my wheels going from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd while on the move )

Scenario:At traffic light, you prod the gas to accelerate, does your wheel spin before it regain traction? The worst wheelspin i ever had was a FWD T/C running 185/60 R13 tires in the wet. Totally no traction to go upslope. All gears are breaking traction and even lost to a Viki!
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear June 25, 2005 Share June 25, 2005 Wheel spin only once in my previous B14 Sunny (M) Tyres used are Falken ST115 185/60R14 which have about 14K on them Current ride still have not experience it yet. ↡ Advertisement
