How to remove scratch marks

Hi Smiley,

Join us for our next meet up (Friday)

I have a tube of Scratch X in my car, you can try it to see the effects.

Don't worry, it's not a polish or wax.

But if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, then it's quite deep and most scratch removers won't work.

cheers

Hi Chris_CK,

Perhaps you could come along for our meetup this Friday and let our fellow members take a look at it ? Details are in the MEETUP folder, just add your name in there and the scratch pblms and our bros will bring along whatever stuff they have on the day itself to help you. You might even drive away that night with that scratch gone. [;)]

Hv got this 1 cm hair line scratch mark on my car door. Not visible fm far, but felt the heartache when I wash my car [bigcry] . Any effective way to remove them myself without going to the workshop? Seen one of those cream on TV media which can apply to remove minor scratch marks, anyone tried? Effectiev?

OUCH! That must hurt.

This is my 2 cents worth. Whether the scratch can be removed by polish depends on the depth of the scratch. If you can see the base coat or bare metal then polish will be useless. Polish removes a fine layer of the clearcoat and I do not recommend regular polishing but waxing.

I have a cheaper solution depending on your scratch.

Try using apolishing compund BUT NOT rubbing compound! Rub in lightly till mark disappears, but be prepared for some paint to come out as well. Then polish back with what you always wax with... Hope this helps...
