Kelpie 2nd Gear July 25, 2005 Share July 25, 2005 Most dealer don't allow P-plate to test drive. What logic is this? Which dealer doesn't allow a P-plate to test drive, just write to CASE to complain. Regards,
Altivo 3rd Gear July 25, 2005 Share July 25, 2005 yup.. most dealer dun allow... it all depends of how deperate the SE is, in wanting to clinch the deal
Adam251 Neutral Newbie July 25, 2005 Share July 25, 2005 I'm a P-plate holder planning to buy a car by december so if I can't test drive I go next dealer ... I'm the customer so if they don't let me test drive I take it that they don't want my money so I take my business elsewhere ...
Valjean Neutral Newbie July 25, 2005 Share July 25, 2005 I didn't have a problem when I test drove about 3-4 months ago. Went to a few of the major dealers - Borneo, Tan Chong, C&C (Mitsubishi), Kah Motors.
Ahhuat 1st Gear July 25, 2005 Share July 25, 2005 as above.. i heard there might be some insurance issues for p-plate drivers to test drive.. how true is this? can any bros clarify? thanks! 1st hand experience about 3 wks ago. By right, P platers should not be allowed to test drive if the insurance the dealership has for test driving does not cover P platers. I dont see this as being unfair, in fact, u cant blame the dealership for following the rules. They are there for a reason, and furthermore, if you do by chance crash their car while testdriving, everyone is in trouble. And if you are made to pay for the damage, you wouldnt like it either. best if they could just claim from insurance company. But on the other hand, if P platers cant test drive, then how to buy car? I also donno lah. messy problem here. Back to the point, Kah Motors didnt let me test drive, STS did, but i declined. Champion was mildly willing, but i declined there as well. Just wanted to test water. Was there to test ride a car for my sis anyway, so let her do the test driving.
Wh1tehat Neutral Newbie July 25, 2005 Share July 25, 2005 Bravo bro, maturity in ur reply. Am impressed. Safety and rules are neccessary esp. when it comes to involving other people's lives. What I can't understand are that some showrooms only allow selected customers to test drive, at their own non-founded discretion. In some countries, this may lead to case of discrimination. Ahhuat 1st Gear July 25, 2005 Share July 25, 2005 maturity comes from being an old fart... actually, the current sg situation of allowing some customers to testdrive is in fact discrimination. $$ does wonders.

I'm the customer so if they don't let me test drive I take it that they don't want my money so I take my business elsewhere ... Don't tell them that u're P-plate. Important is u've got ur license... TP issued u tat license... Not somebody by the roadside selling fake licenses... Important thing is... When test driving tat time, look confident. KNOW wat u are doing. Since u're a p plate, means u're still a safety driver. Unlike many of us... WE develop bad driving habits.
