  1. Will my HDB flat be worth $0 when the lease expires? Probably one of the biggest questions most HDB buyers have is: What happens when the 99-year lease is up? Does it just go down to zero? Or will you have an option of extending the lease? A recent discussion on Reddit focused on this very question and on some possible alternatives. It's an especially pertinent question at this point in 2022, with resale flat prices at record highs, and no less than 259 flats selling for $1 million or more last year. Have Singaporeans truly processed the significance of the 99-year lease limit; and is there a better way? https://www.asiaone.com/money/will-my-hdb-flat-be-worth-0-when-lease-expires
  2. hi all, to those who pump Esso fuel, or have a Smiles card account but have not pumped Esso fuel for a period of time, based on your own impression and knowledge, without going to the Esso website to check, do you know if your Smiles points can expire? appreciate your response. thanks! (note: i am not working for Esso and this is not a commissioned market survey of any sort)
  3. Hi bros, I've been calculating but not sure which is the more economical option for me. Appreciate your thoughts and advise which is an overall more economical decision. I'm currently driving a 2008 Stream, COE expiring March 2018 with $15K loan left and OMV $20,486. Is it more economical to change car now or wait till COE expire? If I were to change now, I will likely go for 5+2 cars such as Wish & Touran. Putting aside COE fluctuations, let's assume COE remains at current level from now till 2018. 1) If I wait till COE expire (20 mths fm now) Outstanding loan : $15K Scrap Value at end of 10 Yrs : $10K Nett Cost if usage : $5K Annualised depreciation : ($15K-$10K)/20 * 12 = $3K 2) If I change car now Expected selling price of existing car : $27K (is this a reasonable assumption?) So I basically loose $17K for using this car for 20 months which works out to be $10,200 annually. so which is the more "correct way" of looking at the cost of ownership? The other thing is that assuming I use the next car for 10 years, Option 1 will allow me to drive the new car till 2028 option 2 will allow me to drive the new car till 2026 how do I consider that 2026 to 2028 difference for this decision?
  4. For those bro who's COE going to expire within this 2 years, what is your next move if the COE maintain at a high level say 50k above? please share your view.

  8. Tire expiry date : I m going to teach you how to check your car tires to see if its expired!! The date your car tire are manufactured and the date of expiry is only 5 years. I know a lot of people will say that 5 years ah, my tires already botak loh! Yes, its true. But what if your newly bought tires have a life of only one month to expire? How are you going to check, whether the tire mechanic is bluffing you? Now, go to your car tire and check for this sign: *2603* . the asterik is at the begining and the end of this number. The first two numbers "26" means the number of weeks in that year it was manufactured (one year have 52 weeks, remember). The last two numbers is the year its manufactured. The above 2603 show that the tires are manufactured in the 26th week of year 2003. *2699*. This number show that this tire is manufactured in the 26th week of year 1999. If you are going for a long distance journey, do check all your tires for your own and your dearest passenger safety. Expired tires may juz give in if its run on a hot weather, because the car tires rubber and the inner layer are starting to crack up.....
