My favourite YouTube channel now is about a distracted monkey
donutdontu posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Monkeys. Getting tempted by bananas. But not giving into the temptation of bananas. That could effectively summarise the content posted by my favourite YouTube channel currently. Dubbed ‘Monkey Mind 101’, the general premise here is not too dissimilar to what you get on many channels promoting mindful living. Topics include the likes of cultivating good sleeping routines, understanding that procrastination doesn’t really stem from laziness, and also how the overstimulation that comes from prolonged social media use can cause intense fatigue. But here’s where Monkey Mind 101 flips the script slightly: It rarely ever turns the spotlight on you, the viewer. Instead, we watch ‘Monkey’ live life via a narrator with a good sense of humour. Most importantly, the script here is intentionally dumbed down (English articles like “a” and “the” are occasionally optional). It’s brilliant: The conveyance of more profound topics with simpler language and easy-to-understand metaphors. I think what ultimately helps is that these concepts are illustrated with reliance on a non-human protagonist. Self-help videos with a human speaker staring straight into your eyes and addressing you as - well - “you” can sometimes create a certain weight that may pressure you into immediate action… but then also not result in lasting impact, nor repeated views. I know I would happily rewatch any of the Monkey Mind 101 videos for their entertainment value. And also because they fall under the “turn off your brain and simply watch” category. Happy watching everyone - and don't let your monkey mind rule your life. - Matt-

2 lanes turn right to 3 lanes - which lane to go?
Wheelslover replied to Nicholas's topic in General Car Discussion
I like to clarify a simple traffic scenario. If you’re on a 3-lane road turning into another 3-lane road, and you’re in the leftmost lane, you would typically continue into the leftmost lane after the turn—correct? Now, in a situation where you’re on a 2-lane road turning into a 3-lane road, and you’re in the leftmost lane, should you turn into the leftmost lane or the middle lane after the turn? Google show mixed result, friends gave mixed answer. I see many road rage or accidentally, seem to relate to this mis-understanding. -
This is at Beach Road turning left to Raffles Blvd towards Suntec. Taxi did not follow lane, nevermind. Stop liao, honk liao, let him go. NVM. Case closed. Best part... lao hero in Vios honked from behind, cut in front of me, then stop on the right started staring and gesturing at me. What is your view?

Of late, I noticed many drivers tend to encroach into another lane especially when they drive at a bend. If you happen to drive along Lornie Road towards Adam Road, ECP along Benjamin Sheares Bridge etc., you will likely to notice that drivers on the 1st lane tend to 'jiak' the 2nd lane because of the centre divider. When a driver is not in the habit of sticking to his own lane, this habit will be brought along even on a straight road. As such, I have regularly seen drivers driving between lanes even on a straight road. Driving into another lane often happens when one is driving fast and is not able to control the vehicle to stick to its lane. Therefore, the next time you drive, check out how many times and over what distance you encroach into another lane because many may not even be conscious of such driving habit. Have a nice day and drive safe!

The original thread was posted by Hhx87 in Tips & Resources under the thread "For those who met an ACCIDENT! READ!" which is apparently accessible to members only. Hence, this thread which is under General Car Discussion. Quote Hhx87 "hi guy sorry to hijack the thread... as i have low posting... i am unable to create a thread... My In-Cam Car recorded one accident along Chua Chu Kang Road junction of Teck Whye Lane on 20 March 2012 at about 0718hrs. One Gold 5-series BMW rear hit onto a P-plate M/cycle. I wish to state that I have the footage of accident with me. If you (motorist victim) need the video accident, kindly contact me so that i can pass you the video Unquote -------------------------------------------------------------- From the video, it appears that the BMW driver was callous to cause such nasty crash into the motorcyclist. While the motorcyclist may appear ok, I hope he will not suffer bad injury following the aftermath of the accident. For Hhx87, it may be a helpful to make an on-line report to TP website and send the video for their record and/or action if the VRN of both vehicles are available. Such accident could have been avoided if the BMW driver had PRACTICED LANE DISCIPLINE!!! Drivers who caused such accidents should be suspended and resend for retraining!
