As many are considering to renew their ride for the next 10 years. Was wondering, should we consider to place those important components of a car? I know, the golden rule if it aren't spoiled, don't bother. However, replacing them may helps to minimise the downtime and without a mode of transport. I had a couple of bad incidents whereby the fuel pump went down as at 2nd day of cny. Carless and helpless for the next 5 days as most workshop are closed. And recent, alternator went dead. Glad it was done in a couple of hours. I read there isn't any hard rules on their lifespan. Fuel pump can be prevented if tank is left half at most day to lubricate the pump. Water pump is encourage to change upon the changing of belt. What's your view on this?

Might wanna get an 8th month old filter for my ride. How often do I need to clean this filter? Any other advise on cleaning this thing?

Gonna use this thread to discuss about maintainence of our cars... BTW, I am using Duckhams 15W40 HDEO mineral oil, and 2 leg spark plugs. Wonder what kinda oil fellow suzy riders are using... HDEO recommended by fellow mcfer genie.

hi all My seats have the alcantara leather (like suede) and I am not sure how to maintain them. Are there any special cleaners for them ? Also in the place am I right to assume alcantara is leather ? Many Thanks

Hi guys, abt to collect my new car in a few days, have some elementary questions that i hope u guys could help me out with. 1. What's the proper way to BREAK-IN a new engine? Pedal to metal? Slow an easy? Varying RPMs? Have heard differing views, and would like to maintain the engine's integrity as much as possible from day 1. How long should I break in my engine (in dist(km) covered) before i can resume normal driving? 2. Difference b/t synthetic and mineral engine oil? Read that new engines should use mineral oils? But synthetic oil is more viscuous? Would appreciate some help on what kind of engine oil to use. Preferred brands can be mentioned too! 3. Tips for keeping auto transmission in good condition? Any advise? Also, how often to change auto tranny oil? 4. Planning on getting one of those wax treatments for the car. (Toughseal, Glare) Anyone has any views on monthly waxing, and one of those once a year wax treatments? Any difference in cost, convenienve, etc? 5. The car i'm getting is a 1.6 litre car, pretty heavy. Believe it's abt 1.2 tonnes. What advise would be given for rims/tires upgrading? Tire size and rims size recommendations much appreciated!
