  1. ST Forum Jun 17, 2011 Is SingPost keeping its promise? SINGPOST should clarify whether it is still adhering to its promise of delivering mail to recipients on the next working day if the mail is posted before 5pm on a weekday. I posted a cheque on June 9 before 10am at the post office at Block 218, Bedok North Street 1 to an address in Jurong East Street 13. The cheque did not reach its destination until June 14. At the same post office on two occasions, I had also encountered a situation where the post box was completely full such that the mail could be easily picked from the box opening. Of these two occasions, one was during a long weekend where Friday happened to be a public holiday. I suggest that SingPost put a telephone number on the post box for the public to call to alert the appropriate department should we come across such situations of mail overflow. Yeap Kin Han (Madam)

  3. Feb 23, 2011 Store reneged on refund promise ON DEC 19, I bought a two-seater sofa and dining table from Novena Furniture at Shaw Plaza. I was told that the store would be able to hold the items for at least six months until my new house was ready around this month or the next. A staff member said there would be no problem regarding any changes to the order or arranging delivery at a later date. So I put down a deposit of $350 and was given an invoice. A few days ago, I came across another sofa set at a lower price. I recalled a big poster at Novena Furniture that said the store would offer a full refund if shoppers found cheaper items elsewhere. So I called the company to cancel the purchase of the sofa, but to retain the dining table. The staff member said she was unable to do so as the store's policy was that once a deposit had been paid, orders could not be cancelled. I replied that I was not told about this when I made the purchase. I also pointed to the shop's promise to offer customers a full refund should they find items at a cheaper price elsewhere. She said she would check with the manager. Last Saturday, a manager called me and offered me these options: She could allow me to switch to another sofa set, or the store could hold on to the deposit until I needed to buy another item from it. The end result being that I would be unable to get back the deposit. Such a practice should be looked into to protect the interests of consumers. Victor Chua I'm ashamed of this Sgrean. But then again, he cud be a PR.
  4. May 31, 2008 Chiam fulfils walkway promise made at 2006 polls By Keith Lin Mr Chiam (centre, with garland) walks in the linkway which links Potong Pasir MRT Station and Block 147. -- ST PHOTO: CHEW SENG KIM THE completion of a covered walkway in Potong Pasir marks the fulfillment of a promise Mr Chiam See Tong made during the 2006 General Election. On Saturday, the opposition MP 'opened' the walkway which links the MRT station to the town centre, amid a shower of colourful confetti and a rousing lion dance. Hailing the walkway as proof that the opposition 'will fulfill whatever we promise', he told reporters: 'At the last election, I said I will build this covered linkway, and now this task has been completed. We have done our job.' The project, which costs the town council $250,000, also ended a dispute between Mr Chiam and Mr Sitoh Yih Pin from the People's Action Party, who lost the contest for the ward in 2006 polls. Before the election, Mr Sitoh had installed solar lamps along the pathway - where the walkway now stands - after obtaining lease of the land from the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). When some of the lights were vandalised, Mr Sitoh declined to repair them, saying the land's lease was due to expire. Mr Chiam, on the other hand, said it was illegal for his town council to use its funds for the repairs, as the land was not under the council's jurisdiction. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...76.html?vgnmr=1 sianz.... my lift upgrading is nowhere in sight... worst then in opposition wards.

At first it was okies, till when suddenly the bend turned steeper.... Tapped my brakes and my wheels screeched....and skidded... Almost hitting the barricade...... released brakes and stepped accerator a bit.... and counter steered.... Now, everything in my car is on the right side .... including my non slip mat....
