  1. Johnny Herbert will this weekend once again act as F1's driver steward. The 45-year-old Briton, who won three grands prix during his career spanning 165 races until 2000, debuted in the role in Malaysia. Since the 2010 season opener, former drivers including Alain Prost, Alex Wurz, Derek Warwick and Damon Hill have also served alongside the three regular stewards. But former Benetton, Tyrrell, Lotus, Ligier, Sauber, Stewart and Jaguar driver Herbert is the first driver to officiate at more than one grand prix. Also touted to appear in 2010 are Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Mika Salo and Nigel Mansell. Source: GMM

  3. Damon Hill will be the fourth steward at this weekend's Monaco grand prix. We reported last month that, amid FIA president Jean Todt's new initiative to have well-known and experienced former drivers sitting alongside the three regular stewards at each race in 2010, Hill would preside at prestigious Monaco. The 1996 world champion never won at Monaco, but his father Graham Hill won the blue-ribant event no fewer than five times in the 60s, earning the nickname 'Mr Monaco'. Hill, 49 and currently president of the Silverstone-owning British Racing Drivers' Club, said earlier this year that his past squabbles with Michael Schumacher would not impede his ability to act impartially as a steward. "The people have to make decisions based on the analysis of right and wrong, irrespective of who those people might be," he said. "I think I'm sufficiently distanced from it." Source: GMM
  4. Home > Breaking News > Courts and Crime > Story Sep 5, 2008 SIA steward accused of rape A SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) steward has been held in Abu Dhabi on suspicion of raping a colleague at a hotel there. The airline yesterday said a member of its cabin crew was detained by the authorities in the United Arab Emirates, following allegations made against him by another crew member. The victim is said to have been a relatively new recruit, although the suspect is supposedly more senior and in a supervisory role. The man and his alleged victim are said to have served on the same route between Singapore and Abu Dhabi, but arrived in the city one day apart. The incident is said to have occurred last Saturday and the victim made a police report there. According to Chinese evening newspaper Lianhe Wanbao, the man is married with a young child and his wife is pregnant. It is believed a hotel worker let the suspect into the victim's room, where he then raped her. The Straits Times understands the victim arrived back in Singapore soon after the alleged rape was reported. The accused is still in remand in Abu Dhabi. 'Singapore Airlines is providing both the crew with the maximum possible support,' said the airline's spokesman Stephen Forshaw. http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNew...ory_275264.html will they impose islamic law and chop chop his head?
