Happily1986 5th Gear January 21, 2012 Share January 21, 2012 Am using this. I like this design as the lock shaft is positioned in such a manner that it is difficult for a cutter to reach so as to sever it. ↡ Advertisement

Thedream 3rd Gear January 22, 2012 Share January 22, 2012 For making sure to fix the gate,You mean the round hole of the gate for the lock to goes in right? sorry for the late reply. No, the lock can fit the gate itself, not using the hole which is provided for locks...
Thedream 3rd Gear January 22, 2012 Share January 22, 2012 Thank you all for your help. I have just bought duro lock cost about "$70 plus and together with the duro bracket , total cost $90. The body is the C shape type. Saw a Yale brand of a similar design cost about $50 plus. The salesman comment that duro brand is better Yale. I am a bit surprise as Yale has been in the market for a very long time. ...and this is probably too late as well... I previously got the locks for the main door and mailbox as well, so that I didn't need to carry around so many keys...
Fitvip Supersonic January 24, 2012 Share January 24, 2012 Am using this. I like this design as the lock shaft is positioned in such a manner that it is difficult for a cutter to reach so as to sever it. Mine is of the same design. The shackle bar is free rolling, so, cannot be sawed!

Bystander50 5th Gear January 24, 2012 Share January 24, 2012 Just after we moved in we had the sales guy come round to sell us new hinges claiming that the original hinges were easy to remove from the gate and so easy to burgle. A couple of neighbours paid the over S$200 for the new hinges. Madness. Those people are pure bullsh*t scare talk, by 2 old uncles. I was approached, I told them if they want to demo, they can do it, but they'll have to compensate me if they spoil my gate. I just latched the iron gate on the top and bottom, then ask him to show me how to remove with the latches on. He just uttered something, LL and walked off, not before putting a small little mark on the wall near my gate. I made them lose another business as my neighbour watching the demo and was almost convinced to change. But after that also changed their mind. Looking at other units, even if you die die fear would be burglars would tamper with your gate, then just get your contractor to weld the bolts dead, no need to change the originals and cheaper. Lattesurf Neutral Newbie June 11, 2012 Share June 11, 2012 Currently using the silver coloured Abloy lock. Been using it for the last 15 years for the gate. Good value for money.
Cheepo 3rd Gear June 12, 2012 Share June 12, 2012 I'm using Duro lock. I heard there is a salesman going around, and telling ppl that Duro locks are no good. He demo by using a 20 cents coin and he knock against the Duro. The Duro lock just open up after a knock. I never personally see this, but my MIL saw it with her own eyes with her own Duro lock. Similar story here. I was chatting with a locksmith uncle and he demonstrated how easy it was to open Duro padlocks. He even have his own sort of "master key" tool which he fabricated and he claims it can open any Duro padlock. Personally I was quite shocked because I remember I used to have one and my mother's home is also using the same brand.

Ever wonder why these rumors abound? The company should hv gone bust long time ago on accounts of these stories. Been using duro models for close to 20 years. My neighbours and relatives use it. No break-ins whatsoever. Edited June 12, 2012 by Toothiewabbit

Good locks that cant be cut or opened by locksmith also a prob when you lose the keys and cant get in....headache sia....get a reasonable lock and install an alarm if you are scared of break in.....by the way...the best prevention is to have good neighbours, not good locks....look out for each others... Robertchan Neutral Newbie September 3, 2012 Share September 3, 2012 Hi, You may try the new "Slate Lock" - they have just launched a new fingerprint access padlock. I believe it is the only fingerprint access padlock available on the market today. Have used it for about 6 months now & works great - it is really amazing. No need to bring any keys anymore (though they also provide special emergency keys). And I never need to worry that I have left/lost my keys anymore.. Really amazing product. Give it a try... I believe their official product page is at http://www.slate-lock.com But last time I bought it at a good bargain from Gmarket (Q0010 now) & ebay.com.sg (just search for product name "slate lock". Regards, RC. ↡ Advertisement
