Black dot in rear view mirror

I dont see the dot during the day.

Is this the cause of auto diming rear mirror.

I was in the car park about 7pm, not very dark, no car behind, so no lights from the rear, why is there still a black dot.

Is it normal.

It does not bother me but just curious.

I believe it is a light sensor behind the mirror for auto dimming....
