Driver tries to drive through a pedestrian crossing, triggers Ang Moh pedestrian!

A very blurry video has been uploaded on Roads.sg's Facebook page. It hasn't gone viral yet (at the time of writing this article) but, there's a massive potential for it to explode online.

Help me out here people. I'm very divided about this one.

It's a short 25-second video of a driver attempting to drive through a pedestrian crossing when the green man indicator is lit. This action angers an Ang Moh pedestrian and a clash of egos ensue.

If you haven't seen the video, here you go! Thanks, Roads.sg

The driver’s perspective

There's a noticeable gap/window for cars to drive through the pedestrian crossing even though you can see the blinking green man. The two vehicles in front of him went through with no issues. If it's safe to go through, why not right?

The pedestrian’s perspective

The Ang Moh pedestrian who came running up to stop the driver from proceeding must have felt that the driver was too impatient and should have just waited a little while longer before making the turn.

Clash of egos

The pedestrian then proceeds to block the driver until the green man turns red before walking out of frame. You’ve made your point, move along lah! Why need to do this? This isn't Hong Kong eh!

The driver, on the other hand,  keeps saying that "he has a camera". Pretty pointless statement in this case no?

Can you see why I feel divided on this?

What the people say

image.png.27a96bb82d314e3c5ff172bcb73d4c85.png

Next day newspaper headlines: "Body of man found swimming with the fishes"

Probably a joke. Probably.

The injustice of it all still lingers in the hearts of many like the death of Harambe.

I guess, in the eyes of the public, we know whose side they're on.

The driver needs a better dashcam though.

clearly the ang moh is in the wrong. it is a 3-lane crossing in which driver have discretion to go if pedestrian has yet to come to the particular lane.

The driver was just approaching the pedestrian crossing, I can't conclude he was going to dash across it. It was the stupid pedestrian that ran himself into the path of the car. Just a typical self-righteous AH.

The problem is no driver willing to dirty their car.

If we cannot assert our stance against these type of AMDK, it is as good as keyboard warrior

Well, whatever it is, we can't take the law into our own hands....don't sink to their level....things like orchard tower happens precisely because all parties can't think straight....

Nowadays, everybody is a keyboard warrior, just that some more than others. Whether you are criticising govt or some football club or other people's behaviour, we are all just keyboard warriors here...

Action speaks louder than words.  The only reason we are always bullied because we are perceived to be pussy.

Bullying. The ang mo is at a distance away and the affected car can still pass thru. With that kind of distance between ang mo and the affected car, he should never stop if the ang mo did not ran towards his car coz the car behind may bang into him. There are so much clearance for the first car  to go thru and who the hell would stop. The ang mo is just a trouble maker by running towards the car.  He should go back to where he came from if he don't like the people here.

Are forums outdated? I try to find out by asking AI

Is your boss asking you to explore and learn how to use AI to improve the quality and efficiency of your work? Yup, you aren't the only one in that boat.  Whilst exploring new AI tools, I figured: Why not use it to answer some burning questions that I have? This time, it was about whether forums are outdated. Yes, forums like this one that we are on. I remember how before social media became popular, and before apps like Carousell existed, forums were where I chatted with others t

We are creatures of the air-con

I've often wondered: How much work would get done today if offices were not air-conditioned? What if the only air-con we could enjoy was only in shopping malls and supermarkets? Images of stuffy offices fill my mind. Despite the availability of fans to circulate air, the oppressive heat and humidity will lower our productivity. Many of my colleagues and I experienced this in our previous office, where the ancient air-conditioning system would have a monthly breakdown. For two days, the

The advent of apps and the Internet have revolutionised our ability to connect instantaneously.
