Hehe ... definitely the Focus .. but thats my biased opinion of cse ...

driving the previous one & the handling is really terrific. The car eats twisty roads and turns for breakfast and leaves you wanting more ... had tested the new one and it handles even better somemore with ESP. If u wan the car to look stunning, will need min 17 inch wheels as its wheel arches and body are quite big ...

some pics below to tempt hehehe [:)]

dont worry about the maint cost, it doesn't cost as much as other (jap car owners) may think. It cost average $200 for regular servicing (BYO engine oil) and $500+ for major one like changing ATF. For further saving, you can service it outside on alternate 10k [lipsrsealed]

PS. i can PM you my service log if you want to know more in detail [;)]

The ride for the Astra is definitely better than that of the same capacity for a Japanese made. Used to drive one in the military, 7 years ago. It is an unassuming and modest car, with reasonable good handling (might not be the best in it class for continental), stable ride and safe. It has much solid doors and good built quality than the Japanese. For a small cc car, it has a good booth size, being a GP car, the sound insulation can be better, but it is much better than Mitsubishi one that i have driven (taken into consideration, I was driving a luxury car then). I was told by my then driver that the fuel economy is good. However, the re-sale value is bad for this second hand market of Singapore, who do not appreciate nor know quality and value of such cars.

If you are the type that knows how to maintain your own car, you will save lots of money on this one, but if you are like the typical Japanese car driver who like to throw away perfectly good parts instead of servicing, then forget it. For cars like this, the mechanics tend to take you for a ride.

Turbocharged

bro. your view on jap cars does not apply to recently made jap cars. I know many friends who have driven their honda citys or toyota corollas faithfully for more than 7 years and they are still running fine with the usual wear n tear.

In fact, a malaysian relative of mine commented that his previous honda city lasted him 7 years with minimal unforeseen service costs.

Yes I also agree that european cars are good. I personally drove my dad's BMW320i for 12 years and its also v low maintenance and the engine has never broken down before! Gearbox failed after 100000km(V expensive).

For the idea of Jap cars lasting only 3 years is very outdated and shld not be applied to Jap cars made after 1990 onwards.. [:)]
