You can try "Amik", his style is nice. Muffled on Telarc? interesting...I never expect this to come from a Telarc label. Let me try if you don't mind.

Will check out this Amik. Thanks for the recommendation [;)]

Maybe muffled is not the right term. It just sound not as clear as my Acoustic Alchemy CD (also recommended by NDV boss). Or perhaps my expectations too high.

Ivan0507, your collection is fantastic...the style of capturing the pics of the CD is great too. Any possibilties that any of these CDs are collectors items already? If not, finding them will be tiresome. Anyhow, where you recommend him to get the CDs?

Guitar fanatics out there, these are highly recommended CDs, so Ivan, wanna do some CD sharing???

Liebert's recording by Higher Octave is worth a special mention. Having heard its reproduction in home and car audio environment, I have to say that it has got superb recording.

The sound stage is exceptionally wide, it has got this WOW factor in it. The sound stage goes beyond the speakers laterally and has got depth and space that mesmerises me till today.

I am strongly recommending his compilation to anyone that wants to test their sound stage limits. Liebert's albums are ideal for driving through the nights with your loved ones...classically romantic...I am sure you will like it.

Many thanks for Ivan0507.

Was looking thru my CD collections for more CDs to let go and happened to chance upon this album from Astrud Gilberto's Beach Samba. You should find her familiar because, she was the one that sang and made famous the song "The Girl from Ipanema". Ring a bell?

Look at the picture of the album I have attached, there are a total of 17 tracks to this album, none are familiar songs to you but the Bossa Nova flavour similar to those of Lisa Ono's style will make you tap with the songs in this album. An absolutely nice album by Verve, recording is also very typical of Verve.

Astrud Gilberto "Beach Samba" (Verve, 1966), V6-8708

In 1967 Astrud Gilberto, with a studio orchestra including Ron Carter and Toots Thielemands, recorded the arrangements of Eumir Deodato and Don Sebesky to create a Brazilian-jazz classic. In addition to the original LP, five tracks are presented with the Walter Wanderly Trio from Gilberto's album, A Certain Smile A Certain Sadness.

1993 Polygram Records

Filed under: Jazz vocals, and Brazil

Abstracted from her official website..http://www.astrudgilberto.com/.

Astrud Gilberto, known as "The Girl from Ipanema" and often referred to as "The Queen of Bossa-Nova", is an artist with roots firmly planted in Brazilian music. Her music has become an interesting combination of the sensual rhythms of Brazil and American Pop and Jazz. Born in the Northeast of Brazil, in the state of Bahia, one of three sisters of a German father and a Brazilian mother, Astrud grew up in Rio de Janeiro. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s, where she resides since then.

Astrud was first introduced to the World at large in 1964 through "The Girl From Ipanema", the Grammy-winning recording with Stan Getz and her then-husband Jo

This is one of the latest Eddie Higgins Quintet album I have bought from Richard at RDH, Adelphi recently and this is also one of the albums I have been waiting for dearly for its style of jazz play. The album, titled "It's Magic" features Scott Hamilton playing the tenor sax accompanied by Eddie Higgins with the piano, Jay Leonhart with bass, Ken Peplowski with tenor sax and clarinet, and Ben Riley with drums.

You will probably realise that the album features a young girl cladded in a thinly veiled dress, on closer look, the picture should carry some Restricted rating actually, that is because of the public display of pubic hair...argh....

OK, enough of the cover, lets dwell more on the album. Total of 10 tracks recorded in The Studio in New York on 18 Oct 2006 and manufactured by Venus Records, Inc., Tokyo, Japan. Its pretty impossible to provide any more info on the album as content within are in Japanese. But, I must say this new album is one of my favourite jazz recording thus far, besides Oscar Peterson Trio and Stan Getz, not forgetting the evergreen Jazz in the Pawnshop Vol 1. This album, I give it thumbsup.gif. You people into jazz must get one.

For you folks, here is a folk song album by Janis Ian, called Folk is the New Black by Rude Girl Records under the exclusive licence to Cooking Vinyl USA L.L.C.

Some very nice tracks with good percussion play and upright bass but I particularly like these few tracks in the album.

Track 1. Danger Danger. What America means to Janis? Her way of putting it best...
