Gear box oil leaking

Help! just realised that my gear box oil is leaking! confirmed with workshop. My gear box oil in the container gets lower to beyond minimum marker. Workshop jack up the car and saw the seepage of oil below. Confirmed it's leaking......

 

workshop told me it's not a serious leaking, just seepage. need to monitor myself and top up whenever necessary.

 

If replace the seals, can be quite costly......

 

Anyone got any advise on this? Is changing to a certain type of gear oil helps?

 

My ride is Civic esi. old car liao......

Try to get hold of oil seal treatment chemical that will impregnates old worn oil seats.

Your AT or MT? You may try auto-rx in your transmission, high chances will condition and stop the leak.

hmm, I just got the seal changed 1 week ago. My gearbox oil completely drained out

overnite while i was not in town over the weekend.

The cost of changing was $230. Mine is a Mondeo.

wow, yrs sounds serious problem! must be big hole in the seal.

 

mine is just seeping. workshop says still be tahan. just got to monitor the level regularly and top up whenever needed.

 

if seeping becomes more, than maybe got to change. yeah, i reckon it will cost about $200+ range..... sigh..... pocket burning.....

Old car was leaking transmission fluid quite badly. Mechanic opened up gearbox and changed 3 gaskets, cost me $540, $80 each for gaskets and $300 for labour.

 

Expensive? I hope not cheated. :angry:

OK lar not too bad. Labour is expensive because taking gearbox apart is very troublesome one.

this i agree, if really change, i wonder if can consider change ur clutch, wheel fly? labour less?
