Kozen Neutral Newbie January 16, 2006 Share January 16, 2006 Btw, do you know what's a Spark Plug, and what does it use for?
Genie47 1st Gear January 16, 2006 Share January 16, 2006 It is to ignite the fuel-air mix. No spark plug, not combustion, no power!
Kozen Neutral Newbie January 16, 2006 Share January 16, 2006 I see. So a lousy Spark Plug will make it harder to start the engine, am i right?
Genie47 1st Gear January 16, 2006 Share January 16, 2006 No. It is usually a spark plug of the wrong gapping. As spark plugs are used, bit by bit, their material gets blasted away by the electrical sparking increasing the spark plug's gapping. Too big a gap, need a lot of electrical juice to fire = poor performance. Regular spark plugs at most last 30k km. Rare earth element spark plugs last 160k km. Baphomet 3rd Gear January 25, 2011 Share January 25, 2011 bros need advice my mazda 3 fuel consumption suddenly increase. There's no change in driving style. No change in driving route. Never did anything to the car recently. Normally every 1 indent(fuel marking on the meter) for the 1st 1/4, i can go ard 30km.. This morning it drop 2 indent for only 30km.... Normally when I reach 3/4 tank, my mileage will be ard 150-170km. now im just 1 indent above 3/4 and its only 100km. Is it fuel tank leaking? O2 sensor ? My car is stock, using stock paper air filter(changed 3000km ago.) Thanks!
Silver_blade Turbocharged January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 Could be due to tyre pressure or dirty fuel filter.
Baphomet 3rd Gear January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 (edited) i just change tyres 1 week ago.. and this sudden increase only happened from yesterday after i pump fuel.. Edited January 26, 2011 by Baphomet
Wolfy3769 2nd Gear January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 (edited) try top up again and monitor.. could be ur previous tank was not top up "probably"..some attendant will stop @ first click, while other, just pump until to the max..sometime the diff could be 2~3 litre.. also check for leak (as u suggest) and also the tire pressure (if tire pressure too low, the accelaration will not be as fast).. fuel filter.. i dont think so, cause if u only pump @ spore, the fuel was really clean.. so not likely to be clogged fule filter. ur tire just change.. .there is a possibility that it come with a faulty valves (even if the tire shop change new one for u), thus pressure drop slowly... re-check the pressure again.. Baphomet 3rd Gear January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 hmn..this increase is very sudden..thats why suspect something leaking..if its tyre pressure won't be so sudden right? Cause my driving has been very constant. actually after pump yesterday consumption is normal.. is when this morning i drive from home to work..can see the fuel meter drop very fast.. suspect something happened overnight. fuel moved 2 intent from home to work (30km). I don't feel any abnormalties when driving.. just the fuel drop very fast..thats why i suspect fuel tank leaking.. anyone knows how to cheak for leaks on fuel tank? Pocus Turbocharged January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 (edited) fuel tanks won't leak so easily unless car your was involved in a shootout. Also, suddenly drop in 1 tank also cannot determine your car got problem, sometimes the next tank okay liao. When is your last servicing? Did you do engine flush in that servicing? Did you pump any tank after your tire change? Is the Tire brand the same as the original? Did you upsize your rims? These are contributing factors to FC. maybe your new tires, very good grip, but will suffer in FC....some cheap tires are also know to be heavier Edited January 26, 2011 by Pocus

SimonTan 2nd Gear January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 Using the on board display for fuel efficiently check can be misleading. Usually after a full tank I will reset the onboard computer for fuel economy display. Last December, I was on long leave, did no travel on the AYE/ECP to my work place. I got the shock of my life, as my Jazz suddenly shows 9.8km/L as the average consumption. Then in January when I start going back to work, my Jazz is showing 12.5km/L as the average cinsumption. Seems like when I travel on long smooth AYE/ECP, the car computer will give a better consumption figures. In dec, when I only travels on small roads, going shoppings/markets/sending my kids to classes, those short trips will cause the car to display poor fuel consumption. After the next topup, it was ok. Probably it's the driving conditions, jam, more idling time, etc that have caused the drop compared to previously. Cyberet Neutral Newbie January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 since you observed it only after top up, it could be the batch of petrol. or could be for this batch of petrol, you've been driving through wet weather. ↡ Advertisement
