Road Tax Disc & Log Card

Hi!

 

Purchased a car recently and was informed by car dealer that no road tax disc will be given and I don't have to display any. How true is that? I don't want to get caught outside for driving without a road tax disc...

 

Also informed by my car dealer that LOG CARDS are not given now. Only 3 sheets of printout given to me - showing the prove that car was registered through LTA website. Makes me kind of worried..

I think you will still have to display the tax disc but the log card part could be right.

Road tax disc is still a must...i think! but the part abt the log

card could be true since LTA has migrated to a new system which

supposedly cuts down on paperwork.

Any comments from pp who just got their cars?

The road tax disc will be mailed to you within 2 weeks. The dealer should tell you also that if after 2 weeks still no news, you are to follow-up with LTA.

 

Now new cars without the disc for a short while is ok as it doesn't mean you did not pay the road tax.

wah now LTA really going electronic, everything also do online now. Dealer no longer has to go down to submit documents personally! But still as slow...if not slower

I tink some 1 enquire abt this b4. The rd tax disc will b mailed 2 u.

IMO, the clear windscreen looks nice w/o any decals & even the rd tax disc.

Original log card is either with the bank or finance company. They will give you back after you have fully settled your loan. Insurance company only need your photocopy.

In lieu of log cards, an acknowledgement of registration is given to all owners of newly-registered cars. As what other bros have mentioned, LTA will post the road tax disc to you.

is there a way to have a clear windscreen? i think all those discs look ugly.

 

can you keep the disc somewhere and flash it when they ask for it?

Not displaying road tax disc is already an offence, so to say

Now, all new cars don't comes with road tax when you collect your car.

 

It will be posted to you directly to your home address.

I got mine the next day after i collected my car.

The 3 sheet of papers is correct... LTA will send the road tax disc to your house within 7 LTA working days.

Bro , any idea why this about-turn huh ?

Last time before the on-line system, the new car owner will receive the road tax disc on the same day he collect his vehicle.

 

Since it is 'on-line'now and LTA allow new car now to drive around without road tax disc , then they might as well abolish the old system since everything is store in their data base. [gossip]Then we can all have a clutter free wind screen !

until the day when they come up with a tool which can show road tax details

just by scanning the car, the disc will still stay.
