Having visited its production in Mlada Boleslav (Czech Republic), the level of meticulousness in the assembly of the final product is highly commendable. Let's not go into the specs nor speed nor looks... just plainly on built quality conti car sure got 'conti-ness' one. if yr priority is plainly built quality - forget abt conti and go for a lexus. Evildoer Neutral Newbie March 28, 2006 Share March 28, 2006 I am going to suggest Saab 9-5 based purely on personal experience (which I do not have a lot ! ). I had one for a year. Never had an accident to prove how safe it was though. But the doors were so solid that my wife was hurt when the car was parked on a slope and it swung by itself, hitting her on her arm. u seems very grateful for that incident.... IMHO, both Audi and VW's build quality are sometimes questionable. friend's 2yr old A4 has got random rattling sounds now and then which drives my friend nuts. for the new Golf when it was first released, went to take a look at the ride. the gap between the panels were ridiculously big and inconsistent, especially between the bonnet and the front fenders. i remember reading this comment in a foreign mag too... anyway, VW owns Audi (and also Skoda). if the parent can't even take of itself, wat more the child? btw, reviews of mags should be taken with a pinch of salt. these mags sometimes get kickbacks for the things they review and so their review maybe slanted. even if the reviewer is perfectly honest, the car sent to the editor maybe the one which the manufacturer checked and double-checked to make sure everything is perfect... worthwhile to look at surveys (which also need to be scrutinised) and the best is go for test drive and also ask other owners who give genuine feedback. some pp who bought the big brands but because scared of losing face, they will still say "no problem, very good" no matter how many times the car has broken down Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
