Jusnel 6th Gear June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 picanto is a good car as a 2nd car in a family. i think its quite practical to have it actually. imagine got an undegrad student in NTU or NUS, i think its a good idea for the father to get picanto for the undergrad child to drive to and fro school. it's just nice and cheap to maintain. if i were the father, i would tell my son/daughter, "i will get you a car for yr classes and picanto is all i can afford now. if you dun mind, then i will get it. if you complain 'no face', or 'too small', then you go work part time for extra money to top up my money and get yrself a bigger car.". Yeah, thats wat i will tell my undergrad son/daugher. secondly, in a family, it's good as a 2nd car for the wife to drive herself to work, esp husband and wife offices are worlds apart. maybe one in jurong and one in east, and the home is in the central somewhere. and to make it even more pratical, husband's car is a normal sedan, like a 1.5 vios or chevy cars. Or wife is a housewife with 1 or 2 kids. then the picanto is v practical for her to zip around in town for groceries, high teas, and bringing the kids out..... then i think it quite affordable to maintain both cars. one vios/chevy and one picanto. no point buying one big car, both husband and wife got to share. husband must wake up extra early just to drive wife to work and rush back to his own office. sometimes, both will argue who gets to drive on weekends, blah blah blah..... "INDEPENDENCE" is the word i trying to put across here....! best part is ppl look at the couple driving each car.... they will think the couple is earning tons of money in their jobs! so actually there is a market out there in spore for 1.1 picanto. what? complain noisy on the road, then do abit of SP on the wheels/doors and rooftop lor.... will solve it already..... Zakuii 1st Gear June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 One reason why I will never buy mini cars like picanto is safety. the car is too small to survive a crash or accident. if the car does not survive, needless to say the passenger will not survive either. I'm not saying passenger in big cars will survive, but the likely hood of surviving is much higher than a mini car.
Rontheman Neutral Newbie June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 Agreed that Picanto lacks many safety features such as air bags etc, but ultimately the driver is also an important element. I am driving a Picanto, not that I am proud of it, but it does fulfils my need, being cheap and the FC is excellent. Because I know that the safety is comprised when driving a Picanto, I tend to be very defensive in my driving. So I will rate my chance of survival in an accident to be better than that of a bigger car driven by a maniac. Incidentally, did you notice that most cars driven by maniacs tend to be big cars? Zakuii 1st Gear June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 yes, i've seen with my own eyes on a busy evening, on the cte north-bound, a crazy RX300 or Harrier driving at high speed swerving in and out of lanes. the driver is totally out of whack!
Tkseah Turbocharged June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 Those of us who buy budget cars knowing that we do not have the full suite of safety gadgets tend to be more defensive in our driving.. It's the folks who bought expensive cars knowing that they have the latest complete armory of safety and performance products who will tend to be more garang in their drving.. Of course there is also the category of idiots who buy budget cars but drive like F1 racers..
Thermodynamics Neutral Newbie June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 Below are some reasons : - FIT cheaper by 3k. - offer a higher price to take in Picanto @ $14800 compared to KM @ $10000 - 1k servicing free - more freebies throw in for us. Hi sis What was the actual price of your Fit when u bought it? Last month KM Jazz going at 53200 if take up 7 years loan. KM offer no free servicing. I have not been to a PI before. Does Fit looks like the newly re-facelifted Jazz? What freebies did your PI throw in for you which KM does not? I am also looking to buy a Jazz/Fit soon. Looking forward to your reply. Picantorian Neutral Newbie June 21, 2006 Share June 21, 2006 Q : What was the actual price of your Fit when u bought it? A : We got the FIT at $55,800 @ 10 years loan, without $0 downpayment. Interest rate is 3.5%. Not sure of the offer by KM, but they will not be able to take our picanto @ $14,800. They only quoted us $10,500 at most. Q : Does Fit looks like the newly re-facelifted Jazz? A : It looks almost the same except for the antenna and of course the wordings behind lah.. But i think it looks more similar to the 05 Jazz than the 06 Jazz. Q : What freebies did your PI throw in for you which KM does not? A : PI offered a higher trade-in value for the picanto, gave us 1K servicing free, paid for number retention service ($100), leather seats, sport rims, reverse sensors windows tinting (front and back). Not sure what KM offers, but i just list down what we got from SE. Do let me know if you are interested, I can intro this SE (based on our experience) to you to discuss. Fit only 4! can anyone verify what i heard today? 8 plugs? if the owner wants iridium ones, then it's gonna to be bloody expensive! the ws explained tat jazz is not powerful, so honda designed it to have 8 plugs to try to compensate the lacking power....... ↡ Advertisement
