Perseus76 2nd Gear January 19, 2007 Share January 19, 2007 No doubt the R1, R2 and Mit I is good economical cars, that can save u lots of bucks in the rd tax, petrol and insurance department... But this cars are made for Jap market, where they scrap their cars like every 3 yrs.....if not shorter. In singapore for city style driving, this cars cannot really last 4 to 5 yrs, before things starts to break down due to wear and tear. I have not test drove one, but if I am right, the average rpm of K cars should be easily in the range of 3000 to 4000 for sizeable power to comes in......this will, in the long run, equates to faster wear and tear, with lots of start stop driving.... If i am to pay for a car for almost 50K, but it cannot last me more then 3 yrs....before i got to change car or breakeven my loan, then probably it will hurt my pocket more... I am just stating my opinion, no offense intended...

Julian Clutched January 19, 2007 Share January 19, 2007 in that case, pay more and go for the Swift I already replace my car 1.5 yrs ago... change not so soon... not me asking i or r2... just my comment on these 2 cars.
Ic3boi Neutral Newbie January 19, 2007 Share January 19, 2007 i's engine is alittle hard to reach and becos its RF layout, e front lks like it had a frontal collision. R1 and R2 lks more proportionate. i has a more refreshing interior, while R1,2 is more conventional lking. performance R1,2 cant beat, cos i's turboed. jus my 1 cents worth view. Mach Clutched January 19, 2007 Share January 19, 2007 Tested both the R1 and the Mit "i". The Mit beats the R1 hands down in driveability, due to the turbocharger. Because of the CVT trans, the R1 had to be revved hard to 4k+ rpm just to move off at a half decent pace and even then it seemed to take forever to reach 70km/h. For the record, there was 3 people on board, including driver.
Kyousuke Neutral Newbie January 19, 2007 Share January 19, 2007 hi Luckcent Mit 'i' / R2 659cc / 658cc 64hp @ 6000rpm / 54hp @ 6400rpm 94Nm @ 3000rpm / 63Nm @ 4400rpm top speed 180km/h / top speed 140km/h front wheel drive / front wheel drive if I didn't get the spec wrong, then the answer is obvious however, 'i' is almost 10k more exp then R2 i think R2 has a 4 wheel drive version, it might give better performance/handling but.... but hor.... FC how ??? price should be closer to 'i' for 4 wheel drive. anyway, since they are "kei" car, cute & accessories factor should be part of consideration. if u want performance, the price can get you better choice then 'i' or 'R2' just my tiny 2 cents. The Mit i is RWD. Techically, it is a Rear Engine, RWD turbo charged car. Just like a 911 Turbo.
