" Crap with loads of electronic problems....." Owned 2 Volvos back to back......Sure as hell dun think they are crap! hardly gave any problem! Maybe I am also a "lousy" driver, also have no problems with their road-handling. Off course can definitely improve, but more than adequate for day to day driving.....

Please explain then why is it the S80 doors can open on it's own after you've locked it.

Oh, then there was this time when there was a World recall on its radiator fan, please do a google search if you won't one of the Owners that received a letter back then to return for a free replacement.

You might as well check on the failure rate of its in-car phone kit while you're at it....

BTW, I haven't even started...........

The V70 is priced above S80 and I think got poor resale value. Its more practical, but looks a bit like a hearse, especially when there are some luxury Volvo hearse in Singapore now.

The previous S80 back looks like a tombstone, this new version looks better at the back but uglier in the front.

My fren

have you ever tried opening the boot of a current E200 in the showroom?

I cannot farking believe the handle rattles like a cheap taxi !!

Oops... sorry ... it is a taxi anyway when you take away the Cuntfort and SAMRT

I find the interior cramp, cheap and ugly!

I used to have a S60 ... Yums!!

the built in car phone was nice... the leather seats was comfortable.. ride quality was comfortable also

But i did hate the poor reliability of the cosmetic parts. My radio buttons melted when i park my car in the hot sun

I am seriously considering buying one more S60 before the new model comes in. My current LGT is drinking petrol faster than i drink Mao Tai wine.

I tried my friend's S80... my personal opinion is that it is a truly driver's car with good road feedback. The understeer does not betray a car of its length.

My only complaints is that the interior is very narrow ... if you hv 2 fat pple in the car... jiak lat

But leg room is nice long and sufficient.

Last but not least .... the ICE sucks!!

If i am in yr shoes ... S80 gets my vote

and pocket the $30K difference

Yes the current E200 quality sucks. I had old 190E before, then move to the W124 Merc 200E, which are solid. Now I have the previous generation C180, like toyota Corolla feeling.

Turbocharged

Why do i have to explain anything? I already stated that I sure as hell dun think they are crap! This is due to MY PERSONAL experience, having own 2 Volvos coming up to 5 years. Off course, NO one company manufactures 100% defect free product. ALL car brands and Models have their nitty gritty issues here and there, even the Legendary bullet-proof reliable TOYOTA. Thats why there a term called "LEMON". Recalls also happen to to nearly all other car manufacturers. Internet is very useful, BUT might as well say, my colleague's, mother's, nephew's, girlfriend's, father's, friend's CAR (Whatever brand/model) is CRAP due..........

Also, though I might be wrong, do think in this forum, most of whom directly owned a Volvo, generally am quite please with the car/brand overall.

You, my friend, is entitled to your opinion, while I am stating mine based on my experiences. That's why I DID NOT asked for you to "Explain/proof/substantiate" anything. " Though YOU haven't even started " but still think I better stop least it degenerates further. Sure as hell dun want other forumers to think I'm a VOLVO zealot.

Good Day.

You can get a mid 2006 model for around $95k for C180. This facelift model looks nicer, and some of the problems already sorted out, quality a bit better. I prefer the C180 over the C200, as both same engine, but C180 supercharger tune lower, less noisy.

Only disadvantage is the C180 driver seat does not have memory, if you have different drivers, then its a bit troublesome to adjust again.

Hope this message gets across :)

Exactly my sentiments, if I were to voice my personal opinion and have some smart jackal to retaliate without acknowledging the fact that it was just an ex-Volvo owner sharing his experiences, anyone will not be enamoured with such kind of outburst, right?

Oh its that obnoxious, it undermine the value of cyberspace and ultimately degrades free speech on the forum.

I am not even saying that you

I am also looking at these option.

Currently driving a C180, the previous generation one. Going to have 2 kids and a maid, so I need something a big bigger at the back.

My options are:

Merc E200K

BMW 523i

Lexus GS300

Volvo S80

Audi A6

I eliminated BMW and Lexus as the back are too small. Audi is the longest, got headache doing parallel parking. Down to Merc E200K and Volvo S80

Just test driven both cars back to back last week. My views are:

Volvo : more luxurious interior, felt more solid inside, but engine quite rough and noisy, don't like the design in the front.

Merc: quite noisy too, but better than Volvo. Actually the Merc E200K is rougher than my C180 because although both are using the same 1.8 litre engine, the E class has the supercharger tuned to produce higher power to move the heavier car and thus nosier. Interior less luxurious than Volvo

Price wise, Merc claimed that it has one last unit of E200K Elegance at 168k, after this will be all Avangrade which is 170k+. Volvo S80 is around 140k plus but I suspect can bargain a little bit lower.

In the end, I think my ideal car would be the new C180, more solid than my current C180, but I don't think its big enough. Looks like I will settle for the Volvo S80, but not so soon, in case the price would drop. Volvo do have promotion on and off and hope to catch one of their promotion.

Why not consider the XC90? Px wise shld be within your budget. And if you're not particular abt driving a non-sedan MPV looking car, non-rwd car, can also consider the B-Class. The rear passenger space is more spacious than the new C Class as there is rear-wheel intrusion.

2004 C200 is really not appealing. I know this sounds shallow. heck, i tink getting a camry is better than the C200

bro is there a lot of difference between a E200 and a E240?

E200 is smaller engine but supercharged

E240 is NA

Using FC, noise and power delivery as comparison, how are they different?

Hello Bro

let me help you out here.

screw BM and GS300 ... i dont like them either

i would love the A6 if it isn't bcos the deprec is so damn high ... almost the same as E200

Have you tried opening the boot of the E200? i hate the rattle of the catch lock... feels very cheap... and the entire car too.

If you bargain hard enough, you might be able to get a S80 for a lower price... show 'em the money and they believe you

If you think the S80 2.5T is rough... get the S80 3.2L

i think there is a demo unit for sale at Presto Motoring the in-house dealer .. key word is bargain bargain bargain. Those fellas are not very bright... you can work around them i am sure.

If all else fails... join me on the Dark Side with a Legacy GT. Guranteed smiles on your face, yr wife, yr 2 kids... and possibly the maid.

yup... had a good experience with a 02 S60 which already now serving new owner in NZ

my only grouse is they took away the built in car phone and YET increased the OMV (thus deprec)
