does changing extractor - high flow cat - legal aftermart mufflers helps in performance?

extractor changed to 4-2-1 but cat is stock with stock piping.

any recommendations of exos workshop?

Bro can share what's your ride?

Many 4-2-1 require de-cat but of course alternatively u can add on a high flow cat after the 4-2-1 at the mid pipe

I recommend FK

Done mine there several times

Happy customer [thumbsup]

Neutral Newbie

Cats only work at a very specific temp range. half the time they're just sitting there looking pretty (well, not really). even if you took a performance car like the EVO or WRX and removed all the cats, it'd still pass the emissions test as modern cars' engines are so efficient and clean-running nowadays.

any modification to exhaust component of your car is illegal; except for those approved LTA mufflers. cheers!

Thats right.

For Exhast system (exhaust manifolds, catalytic converters, mufflers, etc), you are required to submit the following to LTA for evaluation,

1. Certificate from the product manufacturer stating the proposed aftermarket exhaust is suitable for the make and model of the vehicle.

2. Certificate or test reports from LTA/NEA recognised test laboratories to show that the after market exhuast sysyem when fitted on a per make and model basis complied with prevailing exhuast emission standards.

I am wondering how much $$ it would cost to carry out the tests and fee for evaluation, lastly the time. 12-18mths?

To add, I think by approving the use of high flow cat, it will give ppl the alternative instead of de-cat, I am sure most of us are environmental concious yet power hungry.

I just hope that some workshop will send some cat for approval so the mass can benefit. It is not an expensive part anyway.
