I think A&W at Bedok was the last to close.

Talking about Liat Towers, do u know what is underneath the stretch of big pedestrian walkway in front of Liat Towers all the way to Mandarin Hotel? A canal!!! Actually, up till the late 60s it was a big open canal and this was later covered up and converted to a pedestrian walkway.

Thanks. Used to go to all the beaches in Sg back then, from Lim Chu Kang to Ponggol to Changi to Bedok to Marine Parade to Katong to Pasir Panjang except westend, which was covered with swamp.

long ago the entrance fees was over $10~$20 (not very sure) when later on became free entry but now I thought it's closed due to heavy maintenance costs or something?

i can help to answer because i went there a couple of weeks ago only. and it's still opened can still see tourists looking around.

Clarke St (part of Clarke Quay). The white building used to be a primary school in the 50s till the early 60s.

 

 

Clarke St from another angle (I was born in one of the houses on the left). The circle on the right, where the tree is standing, used to be a public toilet (see below pic)
