In my teens I knew the bldg as Capitol Building, a favourite meeting place for couples but in my twenties I discovered it was actually named Shaw Building as can be seen in the photo posted by you. Then I was given to understand that it had a name earlier before Shaw bought it from the Namaze family. In fact the whole street of bldg along stamford road was owned by that family.

if I'm not wrong,This was held opp the fire station, now is occupied by an Executive Condo and new corporation primary school.Few of the blks of flats seen behind were already demolished in the 80s.

 

I'm still puzzled why they were demolished when they were still considered new at that time.

How old is the arial view of marine parade? Looks more like geylang on the left. The roundabout must be gillemard circus.

I can't find Kallang air port in the pic.
