Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 comparing stock to stock is more fair. the RX-8 can be modded too.heard of some turbo and superchared Rx-8? though turbo reacts well in mods but i don't think simple mods can give the YRV 200 horses.its like 70 horses more from the 130bhp stock.definitely IHE is not enough to reach that figure.any idea how much power can the auto tranny hold up to? but i do agree that this 1.3litre can give bigger CC cars up to 1.8litre a run for money.but not most of the 2litre and above car.still consider bang for bucks turbo car.but the mods are limited unlike the wrx. ↡ Advertisement
Perseus76 2nd Gear February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 simple mods i mean is with the stock engine blk, and IHE turbo and a couple of add on...........the IHE is good for up to 200 horsies at ard 1.3 bar, because a couple of YRVt already on that with dyno sheet to prove........but on specs, the IHE can take up to 180 horsies..... the tranny.....should be able to hold, but not sure how much it can holds up to, but understand that those on 200 horsies, so far no problem. those abv it have occassional gear slip.......but those are seriously and heavily modded. 1.8....sure makan......2.0L also makan, becos of power to weight ratio. stock to stock, the YRVt can hold on par with Mazda 6 2.3L up to ard 150kmh before the 2.3L starts to pull away slowly......being the fact that its a 2.3L.....the saying goes "no replacement for displacement". if we are all looking at 1.3L, no horse run, the efini FD is the best, but the oil needle also drop fastest.... Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 (edited) i mean a stock one is hard to match most of the 2litre cars. by the way,do you drive one?you seem to know alot of these modded YRVs. cause i had yet to see any YRV drives very fast.most i see are fierce looking with carbon fibre bonnet and some with loud BOV. Kelpie 2nd Gear February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 Lots of people talkin bout Swift Sport & Colt Turbo. Hehe... this one is one forgotten angel. Arguably one of the FASTEST sleeper cars on the road today - 0-100km/h 8.2s Stock. With pretty crazy power to weight ratio. Seen one on our roads lately? What do you guys think.. Any owners here... come come.. raise your hands up. :) I read from somewhere that it has suspension problem and was discountined. Relatively short life cycle. It seems that you can't use big wheels too. Regards,
Jeimmes Neutral Newbie February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 yes i think the YRV looks pretty cool with the hissing sound. Which is faster on paper? the YRVt or RX8?
Apollo 1st Gear February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 so, how fast it brakes?
Long_lasting Neutral Newbie February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 Not all rx-8s are made equal. 5MT and 4AT have 4 pot engines cranking out 215 horses. Only the 6MT (local) and 6AT does about 231horses. Both are 6 pot engines. The 6MT Type S JDM does about 250, I heard. When u mention 4 and 6 pot engines, are you referring to cylinders? Being rotary engines should they be 1 'pot' engine? But being twin rotary, it should be 2 'pot', right? Bernard
Clio Neutral Newbie February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 wat he means is the intake and exhaust pot. 4 pot being 1 intake and 1 exhaust pot on 1 rotor, 2 rotor hence 4 pot. 6 pot being 2 intake and 1 exhaust pot on 1 rotor, 2 rotor hence 6 pot. Emperor Clutched February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 Oh yeah.. you still got the Mazda RX-7... 1.3 turbo....
Emperor Clutched February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 Think its a R32, and its 3.2L.. = And for 1.3L... If I'm not wrong, the Starlet 1.3L turbo is the fastest amoung the small car.. can corner well too. Sg used to have 3 real thing, not sure abt now. maybe u can check out the starlet side. Hee hee!! I can confirm with you there still is!!
Emperor Clutched February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 There are evil Starlets lurking in SG. Some have real snail shells in snail clothing if you get my drift. There is one with a single 40DCOE. Faster on the sprint than most turbocharged cars but petrol is . Haha! You should know better! You were one of the EVIL ones!!!!
Clio Neutral Newbie February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 i mean a stock one is hard to match most of the 2litre cars. by the way,do you drive one?you seem to know alot of these modded YRVs. cause i had yet to see any YRV drives very fast.most i see are fierce looking with carbon fibre bonnet and some with loud BOV. sorry i donno u at all but u reply like a computer hero. we dont go compare car base on paper here paper there nor your experience on the road. its more fair to make a statement by direct comparison like driving the car or engaging in friendly drag or track race. i.e.: different car with same horsepower dont perform the same. the sprung weight, unsprung weight, the torque output, the power curve and the traction of a car plays a major part of the comparison. i am confident to say a stock yrvt is enough to embarass any 2.0 litre. embarass as in pulling side by side or even slowly pulling it away. pulling in side by side a 2.0 litre car is already a remarkable feat for its puny engine cc. top speed aside...stock yrvt can reach 200kph with ease. by the time a yrvt reaches 200kph, a 2.0 litre NA car maybe only at 180kph. so its not easy to catch it unless your 2.0 litre NA has a top speed of 200kph and beyond. no offence to any 2.0 litre uncle driver but we gotta admit that a stock yrvt can outrun most of the uncle's 2.0 litre HEAVY car. yrvt has the advantage of a high torque engine couple with a light weight body. in my knowledge some 2.0 litre NA car that can fight side by side with yrvt are, AR 2.0, typo R, altezza, etc... something about yrvt, a simple open pod with a straight thru 2.0' exos with a piggybag and boost control to set faster gain @ 1 bar can do 0-100 in 6.9 sec measured by RSM, not your average casio sport watch. i assume u r comparing pick up instead of top speed which is irrelevent in singapore road. i also dont support speeding on singapore road. so conclusion is yes a stock yrvt can outrun most 2.0 litre NA heavy car. those who dont believe can choose to disbelieve. those who believe can ask for a friendly drag in a safe area (PG). Emperor Clutched February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 fastest on straight line... but when turn, whole car topple ok... jk, but heard that stock handling not too good.. and it only comes in auto(4spd?) where's the fun in that? there's a yellow one in IMM level 5 CP, think belongs to someone working there. always see it when i park there.. quite chio with big xos tip fast from 0-100 doesn't mean it's quarter mile is fast too. btw... is there a 1.3L class? or are they all grouped under 1.5L class.. or 1.6L and below class. just wondering.. maybe your 1.3litre ride is fatser than the YR-V turbo. lol.. haven't tried it b4 thou, old coe car.. NA how to play with turbo Bleargh! NA still can play with turbo... there are some cars that make TC cars look real bad!!
Emperor Clutched February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 the tranny.....should be able to hold, but not sure how much it can holds up to, but understand that those on 200 horsies.... Now there's a word I havent heard for a long time!! Singaporeans dont use the word "tranny" mate! Thanks for the remisiscence.

Cactus Clutched February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 Agree with Clio that YRVt indeed can outrun most 2L cars.. Have seen it engaged in friendly drag with Beemer 3series and it eventually pulled ahead. Gained new found respect for it since then!
Felipe 3rd Gear February 27, 2007 Share February 27, 2007 yes its a fast sprinter...but wats the top speed for this car? can it last several miles on NSH at full speed w/o causing problems? its fast in the streets but i doubt it can outaccelerate the bmws at top speed. its better to have a versatile fast car ↡ Advertisement
