Friendstar Supercharged April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 (edited) i'm driving a picnic too FC is ard 8-9+km/litre. i travel PIE from bedok to tuas in the morning and evening. jam at clementi area. picnic has a good boot space even with 7 adults. i'm going to say something which wont please bros here i would consider the new kia carens over picnic. its a really really good MPV which i test drove. its just the brand. Mazda 5 is never in my mind i donno why. its like i wont associate mazda with MPV. i guess thats another reason why it hasnt really caught up. Handling wise, i raelly donno why would people care if a MPV handles well or not. i mean... its a MPV!!! Friendstar Supercharged April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 (edited) u can always wait for KAH's honda stream. 1.8 litre. i believe u dont need the full 7 adults seating since ur dad has been driving an altis all the while. stream's 5+2 would be fine. with the good looks. Kjlim Neutral Newbie April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 Mz5 is 2litre, same as Picnic. I used to think that if you want to drive MPV, then you will need to forgo handling as stated by one bro here. But Mz5 has the best of both worlds, MPV with good handling. This is why I said Mz5 brought back the fun of driving.
Friendstar Supercharged April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 yep i get wat u mean my point is more like, handling is not crucial for MPV. it is good to have.
Friendstar Supercharged April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 new Kia Carens. i'm amazed by how smooth the ride is. how quiet it is..the technology of the car. stuff like battery saver to double ur batter life. auto wiper, rain sensor etc it is picnic but kia price. Mysteria Neutral Newbie April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 bro kia carens is fugly.. and FC is terrible.. dun understand u can say RX8 ugly and still vote for kia carens.. comparing them.. pinic and Mz5 is way ahead in terms of styling..
Toyo 1st Gear April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 The sliding door is definitely a plus when alighting and boarding the car in a tight confined space. Damn, there is no rear aircon. Tat's definitely a bad point. in fact most MPV dun have rear air con unless u go for full sized MPV such as Trajet, Previa. its good tat Picnic has it as well
Toyo 1st Gear April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 I believed Carens is not as spacious as Picnic and Mazda 5. this is a impt factor when considering a MPV
Law_ong Neutral Newbie April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 Travelling average of 70% highway and 30% city driving, I could manage 9.5 to 10 km per liter. One full tank (60L) of Shell 95 could give me about 580 to 610 km. This depends whether if PIE jammed during the evening peak period. I have to p/up my wife from Jurong and travel along PIE to T. Payoh. I hated most the stretch along PIE when approaching Anak Bukit flyover. Always jammed till Clementi Ave 6 exit to PIE. Thereafter, another one just before Thomson flyover. A routine for me daily (5 days week)along PIE. same same for me as well....damn hate it and often got accident too...mine backside got banged by P plate during jam
Friendstar Supercharged April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 to each his own. FC for kia carens is terrible? based on wat? are u comparing kia carens N toyota vios? i'm driving a picnic and i feel my comparison is better. Toyota Wish and Carens is no fight... wish wins hands down with 11km/litre but toyota picnic and carens FC about the same (hovering at 9km/litre), however picnic is bigger with boot space. but carens is so much more cheaper at 62k. I like carens becos it looks european, designed by a european of coz.
Friendstar Supercharged April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 u'r right Picnic is indeed spacious and thats why i got my picnic. however, i believe most people in SG context dont need a big 7 seater everytime. My mentality is "most of the time i travel to work alone but occasionally its good to have enough to sit 7" But i also understand others may think "Wan to buy 7 seater must buy those ultra spacious else might as well dont buy" yep each has their own mentality. i'm more cost conscious i guess. and maybe thats why i wanna downgrade to a honda stream liao lol
Friendstar Supercharged April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 dun understand u can say RX8 ugly and still vote for kia carens..comparing them.. i never like toy cars like RX8 and MR-S etc. i prefer muscular cars like silvia, skyline, JDM accord euro R! Followthelaw Neutral Newbie April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 I'm also chging to 7-seater,but most local models either too big in cc/high in price/thristy/not so easy maintenance. But I found what I want, the Toyota Advanza 1.5,now I looking for a PI to bring in a unit for me. Wonder what's the procedures like,I did the sum, still cheaper than most local models
Toyo 1st Gear April 7, 2007 Share April 7, 2007 Yes, i heard it drinks. but it is a 8 seater MPV. selling price is cheap and u save on road tax too. simlar MPV tat seat 8 include Honda Elysion, Toyota Alphard, Toyota Estima but they will cost so much more.
