Dirtrider_ak Neutral Newbie May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 (edited) Compressed natural gas is not butane ... they are different. All gas have mass . You think what they weigh the liquid?? And I am very informed about science like Genie47... It is our profession .... now i am begining to doubt your knowledge. to liquidfy CNG you need to bring down it's temp tovery low for it to change state to a liquid state. What you have in 200Bar is never in liquid state Edited May 10, 2008 by Dirtrider_ak ↡ Advertisement
Pisces69 6th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 because they need to spend money to buy equipment to ensure the accuracy .... by that time i scrap my car ....LOL i only have 5 years left in it. And yes they encourage us to go green. Oh yes dun join us and be stupid in running cng man ... it has no benefits so that we can enjoy the benefits for now. ================== To check, they just need to look at your CNG gauge. Same as how they check the petrol level. If gharmen really so genuine in encouraging all motorists to "go green" they wud have gone for diesel a long time ago. Well I am not 1 to go for gimmicks or gadgets unless they have been tried & tested fully. This CNG is still very new & still have many bugs to b worked out. We also can't b sure how the gharmen will decide to go regarding a CNG tax at the pumps. I wil still prefer to stick to my usual regime of pumping in JB for the time being. At least I know what I wil b getting. A couple of weeks back the Sat ST had a review on Optra CNG car which stalled 4, yes 4 times during the test drive. And this is a factory installed system. I think this CNG thing is still in it's infancy & still got many bugs to b worked out. Lack of power is 1. Pricing is the other issue. Now we see the suppliers have already started to raise their prices. Wait the price is almost the same as petrol, then how? Ask the pple to take back the system & refund back your $$$. FAT HOPE. its okie...i am usually an early adopter when it comes to such stuff.... risk involved... tats why some pple is still nt turning to cng anyway.... i guess a lot of pple still have doubts on it.... well there will be a time when petrol goes to 3 bucks a litre and msia will need msia id for petrol in msia... We need alternative solution..... tats all i wanna bring abt ======================== Looking for alternative solutions is always good, but always go in with your eyes wide open. When or if petrol reaches S$3/lit, I assure u CNG wil also increase in price. U think those selling CNG don't want to make $$$$ also? Unless of course their name is Santa Claus. MY ID card to pump petrol? Well it's only talk so far & even so, I can still pump unsubsidized petrol in MY at a much cheaper price than in SG. Pisces69 6th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 well u dont knw if that optra are tested by the people working for petrol companies right? How true will tat be ... my best bet is to listen to those who HAVE tried and tested the CNG car themselves aka the users and nt some reports in the papers...... this way u can come to a conclusion closer to fact ===================== Go & read the article 1st. The test was done by a regular motoring columnist who tests cars all the time & writes reports. U think the AD so stupid to give a CNG car to b tested by a petrol company rep? Plus if a car going for a test can b so unreliable, can u imagine the cars they wil sell to u & me? Anyway there wil always b pple looking for the "magic bullet". Good luck to you in your searches. Dirtrider_ak Neutral Newbie May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 Why dun you go live there in malaysia to save more?? and CNG will always be cheaper than petrol if it goes higher what you think ppl will do? sad to say u r the fool ... I only pay $130 for 2000KM of driving ... forget it i am not here to flame with you. Enjoy your $ spent . I will enjoy mine in peace.
Robinang Neutral Newbie May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 let's wait for petrol prices to stabilise then say ba.... anyway... the main point is...i have choice.... choice to choose which side i wanna be.... some others dont even have choice.... Pisces69 6th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 cool down bro.....i guess all of us have their opinion..... mine is tat i wanna have alternatives.... i dont like the fact that petrol prices is going up and there is no way ard it.... true cost might go up for CNG in a matter of time but no matter wat it will keep petrol prices in tact if significant amt of pple uses CNG as alternative and petrol company will know they cannot keep climbing the petrol prices.... ====================== We r all looking for alternatives all the time. Thai rice too ex. Buy MY rice. Can take the taste? Good. U now can save some $$$. Cannot take the taste? Go back to Thai & just pay more. This is called inflation. U really think petrol & CNG sellers wil fight it out? Then why don't the different petrol companies fight it out amongst themselves long ago? I won't b surprised if the CNG suppliers join the petrol cartel to protect their profits. In SG, it is possible cos I don't see any real anti-competition action here. U cannot see this cartel operating in a real developed country. There wud b strong laws & enforcement action to prevent it. Over here the consumers r like the small guppies to b eaten by the sharks. How old are u anyway ? I say export for scrap horr not as a complete useful kit horr as spares. You go check ebay on cng kit .... I am beginning to think you are not thinking like an adult. Say narrow minded .... reflect yrself please and recall your statement. I am here to share and joke not to suan ppl ok ================== Which part did I flame you???? Please clarify. U export as scrap & recover how much? Good luck to you then. And yes, I am also here to share & I too can joke. In fact I am already having a good laugh. Pisces69 6th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 My friend there is already a better type a long time ago abt 3 years ago call Merce NGT proven used by smart taxi !!! see how old are you ? Please stop flaming other forumers and behave. ====================== If this type is already tested & proven for 3 years, why don't they sell that instead of the CNG being sold now? Please state where I have flamed anybody. Otherwise stop saying I am.
Pisces69 6th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 well u did trusted the papers right?haha i am nt doubting the reliability of the press...but sometimes press do have errors and also one sided review.... i dont trust sales either...tats why i am doing my own research.... ===================== If what that columnist wrote is inaccurate, u think the AD wil just keep quiet? They will immediately demand a retraction & even consider suing him for libel. Can u imagine how much his column wil affect their sales. They stand to lose many thousands of $$$ easily. Pisces69 6th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 i admit i am not a chemical engineer....maybe u r .... but i am sure of one thing is... as of today 1kg of CNG is cheaper than 1.5 litre of petrol... tats why pple are considering alternatives ===================== U must check the BTU or calories of the fuel. The higher the number, the more energy it can produce. 1kg of CNG might give less power than even 1 lit of 98RON petrol. They must state clearly to the consumers a clear comparison between petrol & CNG so a easy choice can b made. As it is, they r trying to compare apples with oranges. But it is known that CNG has less power than petrol & u wil feel it when u drive.
Porche 5th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 ya CNG is cheap for now, i'm also tempting to do a switch. But when most of us switch to CNG then the monkeys will tax more on CNG. turnout to be the same. i think more worth it to buy a new CNG car then to convert our existing car. power loss is not a big issue, just step more on the accelerator then the car will move

And yes, the CNG is cooled for storage in a liquid form at the pumping stations.
Porche 5th Gear May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 ya if the cost of conversion comes down, i may do a switch too. Cos there is a new refuelling station at mandai, near to my home. think more will do conversion if the petrol keep going up ↡ Advertisement
