Pirate Neutral Newbie May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 Anyone know what is the speed limit for the Bartley Rd East overhead viaduct, near Kaki Bt VICOM? Was there on Sat, light traffic and smooth ride, so was cruising along...then suddenly saw a TP at there pointing gun! Those overhead viaduct cannot be 50km/h right? Thought 50km/h is more for those small road, heavy traffic type. ↡ Advertisement

Pirate Neutral Newbie May 23, 2012 Share May 23, 2012 I really suspect if it is really 50km/h. Could it be that there is a diff for the overhead viaduct vs the ground level road? A bit diffcult to undetstand how the overhead viaduct with smooth moving traffic be slower than some of the heavy traffic road that are at 60km/h. I was going at 80 and was overtaken by car! Jeroming Neutral Newbie May 23, 2012 Share May 23, 2012 i am quite sure the BTT book says 60km/h on normal roads, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED BY SPEED LIMIT SIGNS. so always keep a lookout for these signs, especially along hot zones frequented by TP e.g. Tampines Ave 1 in front of Temasek Poly. drive safe! Jeroming Neutral Newbie May 23, 2012 Share May 23, 2012 I thought some time ago on CNA, the TP says normal speed limit on road is 50km/h unless indicated otherwise iirc..... looks like i have been mistaken. i actually went to dig out my BTT book. it says 50km/h. looks like i've been speeding my entire life. http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...eed_limits.html this link verifies it. how interesting that many of us (including myself!) dunno the answer to this fundamental question. ok thanks for the education! Bluesky76 Neutral Newbie May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 problem is how can people follow speed limit when there is not even signs on road to tell you the speed limit~ and expect people to know.... guess everyone is speeding if it's 50 km/h cause no one travels at 50~ most of the times

Most cars often go at 70 on 50 roads, I was checking the One Motoring site, and there is pdf which gives speed limits for all roads in Singapore. Speed Limits for all roads Did you know Mount Pleasant Road is only 40km/h???? I often do 70 or 80 there!!!

Jokerd 2nd Gear May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Instead of a single number (50, 60, 70, 80 or 90) they should put up a range. 1 number for lower and 1 number for upper. Unless your car's speed is controlled by a robot, it is impossible to constantly keep to a single speed. Having a lower range also serves as a warning to road hoggers who think that as long as below speed limit is ok (like 60kph on a 90kph highway) ↡ Advertisement
