Hi bros,

was recommended $350 to change my brake line to a goodridge one.

Is it worth the money and mine is only a family sedan, but i feel tht the brake power is a little lacking.

Should i go ahead with the installation?

changing brake line shld do no improvement to your brake power.Don be taken for a ride.Up grading ur caliper shld b the way.Only in extreme circumstances will u see the benefit of tis hoses.imaging a scenario of a rubber hose and a copper hose carrying fluid n u know wat i meant

Steel braided brake hoses will improve the brake pedal feel in that the rubber tubing is constricted by the steel housing. So you will feel a more firm and harder effect when stepping on your brakes.

As correctly pointed out thought this does not effectively increase your braking power from your current brakes. To achieve that you will need to look at better calipers, bigger or slotted rotors etc.

Save your money , replace with OEM hoses will do after all you not going to do street racing so no need to use over capacity hoses. Most of the hydraulic hoses will be able to take 4 times the max hydraulic pressure before bursting.

Get the brake system completely flush and replace with new brake fluid and be very sure the mechanics bleed the system NOT by using leg power but with either a vacuum assisted or pressure bleeder to ensure the system is 100% free from air bubbles.

I think by changing to a better brake pads should be able to achieve better braking power at a cheaper price....

Nope, not a Legacy. But it is bein quoted by a pro Subaru workshop at Autopoint 3rd floor. If you're driving a Leggy, you'll most probably know which shop I'm referring to.

You will be suprise , good mechanics/shop operators is suffering everyday and find it very very difficult to keep thier heads above water level as not many customers appreciate good service/repair and most willingly to pay premium prices. It is very common to hear car owners asking for recommedations to shops that must meet the three criteria - cheap in price, good in workmanship and fast in delviery. To stay in this cut-throat business many have restorted to BS thier ways, do instant magic or engage some so so business & etc etc. If they are unable - they have to retire for good or become taxi/bus drivers etc , in fact many have leave the industry and are employed or self-employed in non technical vocations - basically they are burnt-out and really hate to taught about cars repairs/ services

No flaming please, your constructive views will be much appreciated.
