Super4 Clutched July 7, 2007 Share July 7, 2007 Shoud have bought an NA 20v Airtrek and drop in ATR engine instead... Only way to downgrade is to actually sell off his existing ride and change to an NA car..correct me if i'm wrong here ;-)
macrosszero Turbocharged July 7, 2007 Share July 7, 2007 Find an NA Airtrek owner and do an engine swap, make the NA Airtrek owner pay for the swap as well as a bit of cash as compensation. Win win situation.

Falc 3rd Gear July 7, 2007 Share July 7, 2007 Technical can be done, but it won't be official, so the insurance is still gonna follow TC category anyhow. Best sell off the car.
Slayer Clutched July 7, 2007 Share July 7, 2007 the cost of the mod and risk could cost more than the possible insurance saving (if there is savings at all).
Freestylers09 5th Gear July 7, 2007 Share July 7, 2007 like that he has to change the car details everything?when wana sell or what...more troublesome steps to do leh...overall to do these things ,the difference in insurance worth it?btw the insurance difference is how much? Sony 1st Gear July 7, 2007 Share July 7, 2007 Can't do that. 2 ways to lower the cost of insurance. Get a much older person than your brother that have 50% NCD and register the car under that name. Change car. BTW, if you say insurance is killing him, then I guess he's drowning in the FC as well.

Turbine Neutral Newbie July 7, 2007 Share July 7, 2007 [reply] Hi, is it possible to un-turbo a turbocharged engine....?? If possible, must change the ECU..?? TIA. According to LTA rules. You can't change the engine from different model. Even though Airtek do have the NA and Turbo version, but you only may swap engine with another Airtek Turbo. If you didn't swap engine in a legal way, your insurance premium will not be affected. Also, you cannot remove the turbo itself. Tempering of exhaust.
