Garlic 1st Gear July 13, 2007 Share July 13, 2007 Wa, that shop is very unethical lei, selling 2.5yrs old tyres ...... RS-2 is about $154 each for 205/45/R16, its dry grip is on par with AD07 and has better wet traction. Many RS-2 users have noticed a slightly hammering sound at speedings below 80km/h, above that the noise is not heard, the local distributor says the reason for that is its sticky compound gripping the road. Sat in my friend's swift with F1s and yes they are pretty noisy, btw F1s are now made in China.

Garlic 1st Gear July 13, 2007 Share July 13, 2007 Noticed them throwing the tyres from the store on the second level and there is a loud sound when tyre hits the ground, will this cause any damage internally?
Garlic 1st Gear July 13, 2007 Share July 13, 2007 Aspec dB .... Have a friend who got a set of Hankook V8RS recently from a VOGS promo and its actually a pretty good set of tyres, comfort level is there, grips better than Aspecs and steering response is pretty good. Penthousepauper Clutched July 14, 2007 Share July 14, 2007 i think you should change it after 2 years or 40km, whichever is earlier. it also depends on your driving habit too.... taking corners, heavy loads, speed, etc. may warrant an earlier change. also, the quality of the tyres... You wouldn't buy a bottle of milk at NTUC without checking the expiry date, would you? Edited August 24, 2007 by Pplater
Roberttan 5th Gear August 24, 2007 Share August 24, 2007 just to share my view what is so call very unethical to sell a 2.5 yrs old tyre? my understanding most premiumbrand come with 5 years Factory warranty except for Michelin is 6 years from the date of your purchase. Tyre maker selling tyre through proper channel that tyre must have tested suitable for our climate and road condition and the warrantys are binded my law. is just like foods packing are printed with date of manufacture and Expiry date,so long the store sells them not expired items they are not wrong. only things is just send your 3.5 years old tyre for a checking like any crack/cut/on sidewall ,any repaired before (preferbly internal repair because only this method allows you do know the internal condition). and regular maintenances. You have your part to play too,and for me if i doubt i ask the shop and still worry ask for official invoice. last but not least you just remember what you buying. Barachomp Neutral Newbie August 24, 2007 Share August 24, 2007 always remember to check for country of origin.. or rather manufacture.. recently when my van was due for a change of rubber.. i made double sure that it was made in that "particular" country.. Karbonphyber 1st Gear August 25, 2007 Share August 25, 2007 run your fingers along the rubber sidewall and the contact patch. if it's not smooth and you don't feel that it's oily, that's a sign next thing, stick your nail in there and if there isn't an indentation. it's probably vulcanized already just don't drive too fast. ↡ Advertisement
