The problem with wet batt dried up can cause overheating and catch fire. White solution is probably from the fire extinguisher.

my ex colleague has such experience before and it was supposed to be a pretty new battery. his whole engine bay turns white. [:/]

guys,

my liana ride is over 3yrs (no warranty liao) and the affected battery is my 2nd.

used juz over a year. it's a MF battery. brand yoko****.

my z-stab is still working i suppose since the red n blue leds r still blinking alternately.

wat worries me could be the grouding...or the battery itself.

correct me if i'm wrong coz my understanding is tt MF battery doesnt need any top-up. even if it needs CM would have done that on my regular servicing.

wat scares me is when i read fm the battery manufacturer website...

"It incorporates proven features of Flat Top batteries which reduce acid splash, explosion and maintenance....From stringent field tests, the batteries hardly require any top up and is very suitable for tropical climates of Malaysia."

i interpreted tt battery can explode and even its a MF battery, it STILL requires top-up! so y it's being called as MF then??

i didnt notice any splashed of acid in the engine bay though. could it be the battery has run out of fluid thus the explosion occur?

i'm having phobia everytime i crank my car now :(

thanks for ur input guys!

cheers!!

Is there anyway to prevent the hydrogen gas built up in non MF battery, say removing the caps fortnightly to release the gases built (i don't know, just my guess)

i knew its MF coz its largely pasted on the batt case.

i should have taken the pic of my ripped batt.

it's a flat-top type. i was using the non-MF type n there are big protuding nipples for u to fill up the water. but this one is different.

cheers!!

should hv some small holes at the top for hygrogen gas to leak out.

a possibility is too much vibration in the engine bay, this will cause either excessive bubbling or poor mounting of the electroplates/ direct contact betwe electrodes again resulting in excessive bubbling.
